One man , one grain of sand.......verse

You ask me
"what can I do I am but one small man"
Let me see .....do I have this right
I think I might understand

What is the significance of standing on the beach
of standing on one minute grain
of sand
I ask

Isn't it that one grain of sand that makes
up the beauty of the rolling tides
and an ocean strong

Or that one pebble of granite that melds
together a mountain that stands for eternity
in front of you all along

Those granite cliffs that are simply awe
inspiring and await the setting
sun to remind us of
a godlike presence

What is it then this image of one
man standing alone where is his power
what then your essence

Ask Noah or Einstein ask Mother Theresa
or Lincoln or Martin Luther
but never say I am but one man
again

There is but all the strength of mankind
in the presence of one man
and that one may be you
my friend

Footnote : {or one woman }

Wonderfully done. True words put into poetry. That picture is just simply amazing. And somehow it just sets the tone for the poem excellently. Thank you.
