Poem: Am I an Orphan?

Orphan
Orphan

I got up this morning

with a smash on my head.

The searing pain

left me half-dead.

"The bastard, the rascal",

they mutter as I look;

"Surely he must be the son

of a crook !"

What did I do

to deserve this life?

Why did mum abandon me

to struggle and strive?

My 7 year old mind

can take no more,

My pleadings and beggings

have made me sore.

I've heard that everyone

is the Almighty's child;

Then why is it

that I was found in the wild?

They say that I must

have an evil bone.

That's why my mom left me,

to fend on my own.

If it's true that

I'm God's son,

Then why do people

call me an 'ORPHAN'?
