What Happens When You Like Everyone
No one would believe you
You can't be serious
Everybody hates someone
Until now
Yes I can honestly say
I may not understand you and question your thoughts
But I remember what I was once taught
My mother would say...
Don't hate anybody
Hate is such a strong word
So in my mind disliking someone is just short of hate
Through time that dislike builds up and grows
Like a weed and spreads
So I don't want to go there
Not now not ever
So I will be the first to say why can't we get along
We don't have to see eye to eye
We don't have to be the best of friends
But through life we both travel and many lives after this one
I don't want to make any enemies and I could use one more friend
So I hold my hand out and hope your hand will join mine
Together we can bond
Bringing both our worlds together
Not in violence and destruction
I like to think a kind of clashing of the minds
Where your views connect with mine
My thoughts interwine and spin a web
One so large the likes no one has ever seen
Where we have more good days than bad
Where we struggle and search for a better way
Reaching a common ground
Shoulder to shoulder
Sometimes arm and arm
Who knows
Maybe even toe to toe
In the end what have we learned ?
Life is to precious to ever let go
