Pathways to Lost Kingdoms.......

I too am a roads scholar ....yes the roads
of my kingdom at home
Wherein lies the beauty ......lies the freedom
a million pathes to roam

I too could spend my hours whiling away
in the ivory towers
Or studying the ramifications
turning moments into hours

Mastering away in a musty library at
some old brick lined campus hall
Or dust off my memory and ring up friends
throw my name in the ring...... thats all

Political correctness punishes the mighty mind
lost in liberal representation
No.....no I'll stay right here........
look upon from  natures fenestration

Yes......where's my pipe.....my tweed jacket
and all my heartfelt vanity
Naahhh....to hell with them.....I'll walk within ivory halls
of my own  kingdom of sanity

Ah that the halls of my sanity were as serene as the image of the picture here. I would love to get lost in this kind of kingdom of the mind. Not the one filled with a closeted hallway filled doors to rooms filled with ghost of the past and sitting rooms of delusion.

I love the play of words and the mystery of meanings here. I also like the ..."Ivory Halls" of my own kingdom of sanity. What caught my eye about this line was the use of the color Ivory - not quiet white with all the starkness implied, rather Ivory a color of shall we say slightly tinted innocence.

I really like this -- thumbs up are not enough -- all fingers raised and buttons pushed!

Big Smiles and hugs my friehd and many thanks for posting this.

Hey Laurie , I have watched some favorite writers on a program called "Book TV" on C- span in which authors I have read over the years have discussed thier books and thier ideals, One of my impressions is that no matter how succesful or how popular some of them are , I wish I had not listened to some of them speak, Intellectualism , in itself , means nothing without a fairly good social and emotional I,Q. In part, that was webbed into this poem. Other than that, I would not trade my serenity and love of nature for anything. I took this picture yesterday while walking with my dogs and thought how one moment everything is white and the next moment the sun pokes out just at sunset and turns everthing white to ivory and then to purple just before dark, hence "purple mountains majesty". And finally a purple mountians and stars above. Cyber hugs and thank you !

Thank you so much, I hope to get some entertaining or meaningful poems up which I have many of and I think good but poetry when I first started a year ago was only love based. I love the Donavan(Atlantis)one and Elizabeth Edwards (dance me to the end of love) which I have up nowhere so I am not pushing but I know all poets have ones that say, where did that come from? No? It's a good feeling.

Polly I have a hard time saying "more with less" you know what I mean. One day we will talk about how you 'made' your blog, I would like to try that. Hugs to you.

ahorseback - When you look through nature's window at the world and at yourself, it is always appropriate to make a comparison between you and the one's who may think they are you but would not measure up to it. I had to read your poem twice to pick up on that, but, well done.

Gus :-)))

And, by the way, no more of those cold pix. I am already half frozen.

Hi Gus , I live in a very liberal enclave , Vermont , I may very well be the last lion of common sense here, Our state legislature , our senate , congressman and Governor , All of them appear to be intellectually far left and lost in a sphere of airheadedness.! Ok , I'll back off on the nuclear winter photos LOL.. Ed

ahorseback there comes a time when the halls of vanity and cold pillars and marble floors shine no longer or draw one close to their inner circles.

Give me the pipe and tweed jacket and my bottle of Port to sip from time to time and mother nature to relax my tired mind in her enchantments.

Give me this or give me nothing, life has an expiration time and my careers from the past remain just that, the past.

Saddlerider , greetings my friend , This poem really was just my stubborn way of saying something to the intellectual eleteists that seem to think they have all the answers , the only thing they have more than the rest of us -is eletism ! I love to hold them to reality in the forums , occasionally , when I have nothing else to do. They forget , there is only one truth , one form of common sense ! Thank you for sharing .Stay viilant.

I was arrested by this picture! You took this?! Before I even began to read your poem I wondered who it was being fortunate enough to see such a... inspiring sight, to stand next to poetry. Scout's honor those were my thoughts then to find out it was you! Lucky! :DThe poem is awesome! Love the end, you discard vanity and embrace the natural truth of who YOU are! And we all love you for it! :D
