Peace On The Road

Peace On The Road

A crooked grin in a diamond sky
Makes me smile in return
And for some reason I no longer
Want, or need, or yearn
To leave this road like yesterday
When I was crying and torn
Feeling nothing but my tears
Nothing but forlorn

Plastic purple flowers are strung
Around the mirror of past visions
And nothing seems more right to me
Than to not look at those decisions
The flowers sway in time with the
Bumps and dips and holes
I seem to have found what I had lost--
A peace to lather my soul

Walls of green corn keep me from straying
Away from this bumpy road
My wheels keep turning, turning underneath
Though more than once I have slowed
This road keeps winding and the wheels keep spinning
As I’ve always roamed
But they are carrying me to the end
To my final home

Goodnight sweet smile in diamond sky
Goodnight my mirror and flowers
Goodnight my walls of still-green corn
Goodnight till morning hours

Fantastic! I will always remember this hub, that's for sure. Also, if I might add, the last verse kind of reminds me of a song by Billy Joel. "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)" I believe it is. This and your hub have both gentle qualities to it.

The open road is a beautiful thing, and an even more beautiful concept. I've always had a vision of driving down a long, cornfield-lined road, and this is quite a pleasant picture of that type of scene. I have found that a lot of my writing speaks of the same ideas you do here. Good read! :)
