The 4th of July
People, balloons, and picnics, too;
Pets, parades, and memories loom;
Light the sky as fireworks boom.
America’s birthday’s in bloom.
Was on this fourth day in July,
When heroes made us burst with pride;
Our father could not tell a lie.
Freedom was won despite the cries.
Seventeen seventy six was the year;
Centuries have passed we hold dear.
America’s future is clear;
Thank the veterans who live here.
