Husha

Why do we dilute,

appearing resolute

a clever rune-de-boot.

A devious ploy

to accentuate our joy,

and circumvent the hurt?

Why are we so proud?

Ranting long and loud

about the lining in a cloud...

We deign to show our pain

except in magnanimous refrain,

the esoteric mumbo jumbo,

As we're searching for the meaning

of sudden loss, and reeling

from disappointed dreams,

childish hopeful schemes

that lead around in circles,

like a fast game of

Ring around the Rosie:

husha,

husha,

We all fall down!

When we were young and fast

never thinking about a past,

The road was clear ahead

So well-groomed,

and so well-fed.

We turned a caustic eye

on the weak and silent martyr,

getting what she ought,

Having never learned to barter.

Now I see I've come full-circle:

husha,

husha,

We all fall down!

Exquisite and well done. I LOVE the husha, husha. The image mirrors the movement of the poem. Up, awesome, and interesting.

Life is not a puzzle as much as people are , lol.

But there's no puzzle here my sensational Snakeslane - you just have a natural affinity for writing so purely and honestly without any pretension whatsoever. You subscribe to my poetic recipe - always remember to write from the heart and the mind will always follow - and you certainly always do both on the highest artistic levels.

It's my 55 th birthday tomorrow so I will do more of what I did today - nothing, lol, and enjoy every guarded quiet moment of it.

How is your computer situation? How is your new job?

Peace to you and stay well my friend.

I hope this pieces finds its rightful place in history. It is grand in its proportions, in both texture and form.

Gee mckbbks, I've got this mile wide grin on my face, holy! What a nice thing to say :)

Epi, When you come back (on your birthday I hope) I've added a song, but more of a place holder until I find the one I'm looking for. Job is good (a pay cheque) and computer is good, but still have my office set up in neighbour's basement for awhile until I get cable...Cheers!

Very nice word play. I like the idea of our experiences as lessons that we never knew we learned.

Enjoyable! So much activity in both verses and then "we all fall down." In a Ring Around The Rosie circle, there's got to be a smile.

Ooh. I just found this wonderful melancholic ditty from Ms. Lane. What a delightful stylistic sketch at the top accentuated with deep and soulful poetry. I'll be back in a while to listen to the tune.

Hi snakeslane. You must be really enjoying the outdoors. Miss you stopping in to say 'Hi'

Hi Mike, Good to see you! Outdoors? Actually it's been raining and cold here for over a week, but the grass still grows, and there are tons of little green cherries ripening on the trees in my yard. Next week is supposed to get warmer...Just been working (what a shock), and reading lots (a novel a night), yikes!!! I really need to write one of those dang things. I just noticed you have a new Emerald Wells, gotta get over there and see!

I love so many lines with this one…

“Husha, husha…”

“When we were young and fast

never thinking about a past,…”

Ahhhh those, “we are immortal” years.

Your gorgeous, profound words flow without self-conscious reticence, or “esoteric mumbo jumbo”…they simply are stunning, and enliven with a unique clarity like a fresh breeze. Wonderful. :-)

Genna, Wow! Your words are so encouraging...Thank you so much!

I got some pictures in this poem such as childish schemes, disappointed dreams, ranting loud and such more. However, "We all fall down" took hold of me. One of the great poets of Nepal has a written a poem titled we ARE JUST A WATER DROP,

we may rise, but will will fall sure.

Vinaya, I don't know what possed me to write this. I think I was feeling kind of 'down'. I was surprised what that old children's song was really about when I looked it up after. It was written during the plague in England, and referring to the plague victims. I was surprised at that because it was a children's song and game I played as a child, and I always thought of it as a happy song. Very strange.

Thank you for adding to the conversation. My apologies for being so late to reply.
