Place of Origin ( You Can't Go Home Again )
It was an amusing feeling he indulged in
Believing that he’d won in the end
Pictured himself with her again
Smug and confident of her feelings
He only needed memories
Of what they’d shared
To lure her back to his web
Never mind the pain that hadn’t been spared
Mistrust and infidelity swept
Neatly under the rug
He patted himself on the back
Congratulated his subtle
Manipulations
His aura oozed with redeeming qualities
Played with her emotions
Seduced her mind with pretty
Sentiments and potions
What he didn’t realize or cared to explore
The heart
Has way of remembering even
If the mind is convinced that pretty
Words of sentiment erase ugliness
The knock at the door had him believing
She was standing on the other side
Ready to succumb to his lust
At last his anticipation was over when
He open the door
Not the person he was expecting
His vision of victory suddenly felt cold
Slowly he closed the door and held on to
The letter served him
Without looking at it reality set in
All his wants and needs felt hollow
Looking at that letter
He knew you can’t go home again
