Poem:: Breath of Life

Patsy Anna Patridge 2/18/1941 - 4/27/2010

I wrote this while in the hospital watching my mother "Patsy Patridge" as she fought for her last breaths after fighting a battle with cancer for 14 years.

I love you and I am thankful you will forever be with us.

You enter us from orgasmic inception,
Through the beloved you provide tender sustenance,
You await us while others hold you in anticipation,
Entering your arms you surround us,
Embrace us,
Cradle us,
Support us,
Assure us,
And fill our entirety with your everlasting presence.

Growing and changing we need you,
Searching in doubt we seek you,
Exhausted, agonized and frustrated we cling to you,
In darkness, alone, eyes closed we hear you

From sunrise to sunset your with us,
We exist not without your grace,
A salient elixir of life your gift remains,
A lifeline to this,
Your home,
Your creation,
Your place.

Faithful you remain till last days,
As when we cling to you at 11:59
Afraid and trusting we prepare for return,
Giving back our true self as we exist now and forever
With You IN time.
