Poem: In The Midst of Night

Source

In the midst of night,

I glanced through the window Light,

Stars sparkling, dark mysterious moonlight,

Pleasant sight – what a magnificent Delight!

The crisp chilly breeze was smoothly flowing by,

Perplexed eyes stared up high,

Up above the stars – rich, vivid, transcendent white Moon,

How I wish to see it soon!

I keenly observed the Stars in Sky,

For they were Diamonds for a poet’s eye,

Feeling of exuberance when felt silence around,

Abruptly I was taken into rhythm and sound!

Eyes shunned, head leaned over the chair,

Solitary time and poetic thoughts were rare,

Dreamt of old days – memories of Childhood,

Laughs, smiles, giggles and much more good!

Dancing like insane and playing Pilot and Airplane,

Splashing in water with the rhythm of rain,

Making paper-boats was not in vain,

How I wish to live childhood again!

Getting ready for the School,

Pretty exciting and cool,

Uniform ironed and lunch-box packed,

School-bag was heavy and books were bagged!

Running for ice-cream trucks,

And playing Birds and ducks,

Strawberry, mango, pineapple flavours,

The quenching heat of June-July and ice-cream Savours!

Thinking everything yellow and glittery was Gold,

Bitter-sweet memories always tenfold,

Suddenly I felt the crisp chilly breeze,

How I wish time could ever come back and freeze!

I woke up from the memories and observed the clock before me,

I am the Product of my Thoughts is what I see,

I realized how time passes – like salt dissolves in Sea,

Yet, Cherishable memories always remain with thee!

Surabhi, Very nicely written and thoughts choreographed. I can see the hardwork gone into this piece of work.
