Poem: Never lose Courage

Never lose courage
Never lose courage

One thing at a time, and

that done well

is the best of all rules

as many can tell.

Moments are useless…

frittered away…

work while you work,

play while you play.

So…

Whenever you have work to do,

do it with a will.

Those who reach the top,

first must climb the hill.

Standing at the foot,

gazing at the sky…

How can you get up?

If you never try!

Those who stumble oft,

never be downcast

But try and try again,

you will succeed at last!

Surabhi,

I'm trying to reconcile "Moments are useless…

frittered away…

work while you work,

play while you play"

with

"One thing at a time, and

that done well."

To me, we've got to live in a state of Now, like meditating while working, breathing, or eating rice (tasting every grain before we swallow). That's what most Buddhists would say, anyway :)

I feel like you may or may not have meant that, though. I love the ambiguity of poetry. It could mean so many things!

I really liked this. It reminds me of a couple of Coldplay songs I listen to. Nice, lyrical quality. Good, insightful content. Overall, impressive.

I’d love for you to read my latest Tanka/Haiku collection, “What It Means to be Alive.”

Thanks for sharing this,

Dan

There is beauty in simplicity and this poem exemplifies that in my humble opinion. And the message a very simple and delightfully scribed one. A lovely pearl of wisdom Surabhi.
