Poem- The Girl You Thought You Knew
What if I said I give up would anybody care?
The pain is so raw would I even dare?
Pain so deep it cuts to the bone
Another day another dollar; more time to be left alone
When we first began
I was not even sure you were the right man
But then friendship conquered all.
And into your arms I began to fall.
Quickly every one had something to say
You’re not doing it right you must do it our way.
Your way may be right for you
But it leaves me lonely and blue.
Who are you to say I’m wrong?
Sing it girl sing your lonesome song.
Left alone in the dark
So alone unable to make my mark
Who am I to take this away?
Only the one who is alone night and day!
Look into my eyes what do you see.
No, I finally understand you don’t really see me.
What you see, is a pretty package without a voice of her own
I am unwilling to be completely owned.
You may be doing what you feel is right
And I don’t have any ground to fight.
Do what is right for you
Just don’t be surprised when I am no longer the girl you thought you knew.
