Poem: Today is the Day I wish to Write

Today is the day I wish to write

Poetry demands no day or night

I thereby accompany a pen to write

Leaning on a couch and switching a lamp for Light.

I begin with a word and then scratch it off with a pen

Five, six, seven, eight, nine and ten

A sudden counting starts to catch a stem

A poet wrestles to extract one little Gem.

I don’t know what to write

Yet, today is the day I wish to write

It seems like all the thoughts have taken a flight

I know thoughts will return quite vibrant and Bright.

Mind wanders for thoughts here and there

Poetry will come, but from where?

Will it come from a glimpse or a stare?

Battling with thoughts is absolutely fair.

It’s two at night and way too late. I see nothing, yet an empty plate

I slightly lean back and ponder for Fate

I grab some cookies and place them on a plate

Observing minutely, I receive my answers in a jovial state.

Efforts and opportunities have a deep connection

Turning emptiness into fullness requires a keen Action

We thereby witness a positive reaction

I succeed in extracting thoughts and its fraction.

You are right in saying that the thoughts in my poem have similarities to yours.

It nice to read each others perspectives on a similar topic.

It is so true that we writers (amatures) have similar pain and gain (appreciation).

Keep it going. Check the ones that you have not read in my hubs. Few are dark too. You may like it.

Ah Surabhi, I often go through this :) there are days that I am determined to write but my mind stays blank as I desperately search for inspiration. Then suddenly in the early morning, when I am ready for sleep, an idea will finally emerge and I will have to write it down quickly so I can remember it in the morning and develop it into a poem or story.

I love your poetry..even poems from two years ago, like this. Hugs.

That is so sweet of you, Jodah :) You are always uplifting. How I appreciate your visit to my old hub! Old is Gold, eh! Ha ha.

Yes, yes, there are times when we have to scratch our head for ideas… especially for amateur writers writing a fiction like me (smile). God bless you, my friend. Keep smiling! Hugs to you too.
