Love's Secret Dreams

Time's Playground

When we talked

I felt at home

Secrets more open

Dreams more real

Love more honest

Time was our playground

We were its master, until it broke free and

Trapped us in life’s quick freeze

Silent

Gazing out

Waiting for the thaw of spring

To breathe again

The scent of flowers

To breathe again

Love’s secret dreams

When we talked

Veterans

You pegged me right

From the beginning

I tried to protest…

Talking too much

Pretending you were wrong

But you knew

You wouldn’t let me get away with it

And I, laughing,

Yielded, delighted you knew

Two veterans

Taken with each other’s reticence

Quiet assurance with the other’s craft

Both disarmed by the

Discovery of innocence

Children under the armor

The Gallery

Such promise, such impossibility

Together in a smile as beautiful as the day

Tiptoeing through my thoughts

Washing over my heart

Wandering in the side streets of my memory

I turn away

The sound of you is a soft caress on my shoulders

Your face is framed in the

Images of my mind

Long after you’d gone

Your smile lingered and

I, alone in the gallery

Admiring each trace,

Redrawing as the light fades

Again and again

You smile

OMG Winsome these poems are just lovely. Truly amazing choice of words. I am bookmarking this one for sure.

I'm relishing in the words, "to breathe again, and from you other poem,

"Discovery of innocence

Children under the armor"

Just beautiful!

Thank you Micky. One of these days I will open up and let it all hang out. Glad you liked these.

Chris, I am happy you enjoyed them--I held back for a while, some things you only show the closest of friends. I'm starting to feel that way about this great community. Thanks for your part in the welcome.

Beautiful. Your words paint images and the descriptions you use capture each situation so very well. A joy to read and savour.

Hey Frieda, thank you. I feel like a kid at recess pulling out my marble pouch sharing my new "cat eyes" with my friends. I've enjoyed your "marbles" and want to read more. =:)

beautiful. it's so nice to see a man express these feelings.

and any man with a pre-raphaelite image on his hub page has my attention. thanks for sharing with us. I know the feeling of sharing such an intimate part of you, but it's a wonderful gift to share.

Rebekah, you are, as always gracious and intuitive. I bounced around the pages a while in complete anonymity and finally let a few things out. Thank you for your kind words.

anything i add would just be an understatement and not nearly enough, so i'll just tell you that these poems made my heart full of quiet feeling, like maybe if kittens could walk across it and you could feel it, and when words arranged on a page can do that to a reader, that means they are spectacular. rating UP but i didn't need to say that either.

Maybe not but it feels good when you do. Thank you Cos, you always know the right thing to say about the things we say...kittens walking across my heart..yeah, I like that. =:)

These poems are beautiful and shows what LOVE is and should be. The feelings you put into these reflect a man with a very romantic and passionate heart. I felt your soul was let loose when you penned these. You are a poet an artist with wonder. Thanks for the share my friend.

Thank you Bud, it takes a romantic to spot one and I'm very happy you liked them. One thing about the world--it changes you and if you can express it, it's a kind of forgiveness like "the fragrance left on the heel that crushes the rose."

Winsome, I clicked on this hub like it was a box of chocolates, not knowing what I would get.

I was rewarded by 3 lovely sweet pieces with warm creamy centers, and I say "Bon, bon".

You do know what love is...it's apparent you've been there and lived to tell the tale.

These poems were welcome and well done.

Hey Chris, thanks for opening the box and for the kind words. I owe much to the journey I have taken and still am on. Love makes poets of us all and if love doesn't kill us we plunge right back in for more. =:)

Good day Lady Ivorwen, so glad you liked it. I think that it is interesting that we grow so mature and business like and yet underneath we try so hard to preserve the innocence. May we all succeed. =:)
