Poetry- Even when I fell, you kept me from falling apart
You knew me back then...
There was a day and there was a time-
That I wasn’t sure I could handle letting love in my life.
You knew me back then-
You knew my heart,
And even when I fell,
You kept me from falling apart
Not sure why you did it-
I am not sure why you recalled my name,
I do know that you showed me,
That there is more than just one wrong and one right way.
You may not even realize that I am still me inside,
I may have changed my shell,
But I am the same girl frozen in time.
Even when I do not show it,
I hope you feel it in your soul,
That I am only me-
When I know that you close.
It may not make any sense,
I can’t even explain it to myself,
But I still need you,
Even after years of creating my own hell.
You don’t always understand me,
You sometimes think I am insane
You see the words I write,
And you say that the past keeps me in my chains.
Truth is I need these words
But don’t take my words to heart-
I use them to sort through the confusions in my life
They are not intended to tear you apart.
They are merely words of hurt-and fear for who I was.
The nervousness that I feel-
For not fitting in with others within this world.
But when I feel safe,
It is when I feel you.
Reaching out for me,
Letting me feel something that is truth.
Happiness is love-
The love I have for you,
And I hope that you never doubt I hold true to the words; I love you.
