Poetry about , A passing in Autumn

If we could fast forward to a winter day
we would see autumn in slow motion
it seems that's just how quickly it goes
as if a magic a fleeting potion

A snow line quickly moving down the high
and hardwood slopes
as the leaves fall as one leaving the
last trees in fleeting hopes

And all of it together so briefly these
amber waves of wheat flow in gentle breeze
or the green green hay fields
waiting for harvest at my knees

Sometimes I mark melancholy seasons perhaps
just to see how many more
I may or may not survive at all until
I reach some distant door

But if life delivers me any mercy at all
I might then die in September
So that the greatest beauty of life
was mine
just mine to remember

Nicely composed on this beautiful subject. Lucky me, I was born in September and celebrate then each closing year.

September colors are beautiful but I know winter follows and I'm not a fan. I like your melancholy poem.

A most lovely and poignant autumn poem. Left me with memories of jumping through colorful autumn leaves.
