Poisonous Lips

She speaks the lies

Her truth harms his soul

Lost in her delusion

He wants to be obedient.

Murder on her lips stains his heart

Poison enters his mind

The toxic words penetrate the soul

He fights with all his might.

Relentless to prove her point

She must be right

He resists the confusion

Every moment he wrestles with her misconceptions.

He maintains his innocence

Strong enough to stand up to the truth

A warrior at heart he sees the illusions

She can never be right.

Ignorance separates her from the light

Darkness swallows her soul

Pain and suffering she can never control

Arrows strike her heart

Poisonous lips are her downfall.

Sounds like a mother-in-law suffering in silence while watching her son survive? There are such relationships, sad to say.

Ha ha! Interesting perspective. I wrote it thinking the other way around, a son trying to be obedient. But it works from many angles I suppose. :) Thanks for your comment Perspycacious!

Wow, what an interesting poem. love the last verse in particular:

"Ignorance separates her from the light

Darkness swallows her soul

Pain and suffering she can never control

Arrows strike her heart

Poisonous lips are her downfall."

And the other comments are great too. CrisSp used a good word for it "intriguing". Voted up.
