Pray, Where are You?

By Tony DeLorger © 2014

Deep brown eyes,

pensively gazing into the rich depth of claret,

the crystal swill a vortex for a thousand questions,

thoughts drifting, yearning, trying to understand,

how one arrives at this point,

alone, and with chard memories.

Life's toll undeniable, changes the recompense of fools,

now in mid-life, children grown,

and little to show for it, accept the scars,

accept the wisdom of painful lessons,

and the strength of self-respect.

I sit gazing out my window,

the stars blanketing a life stilled,

by the wasted loves of imposters and gypsies,

alone and yearning for that one true soul,

that one righteous woman of substance.

I know she is there, I can see her in my minds eye,

but she just stares into her drink,

lost in those moments passed, regret and hearts torn,

from life assured and a future blessed,

until it fled in disarray.

Find me, find my heart as open as my door,

for games have died an ugly death,

and all there is left is the comfort of a loving mind,

a soul alive with possibility and harmony,

ready to know you for who you are.

Shall life brings us together,

to complete the wishes of true hearts,

or shall we remain in purgatory, numbing the scars,

in a narrow life, with love tethered,

and possibility in waiting.

Like magnets, let two worlds collide, and in love, transformation.
