A thunderstorm. Poem about relationship

It feels like a thunderstorm is approaching

Suddenly, one day there is a tension that is almost touchable

Suddenly, the clothes feel a little small and for some reason there isnĀ“t air enough to breath

Suddenly, it's like the room's ceiling is lower than normal

You know it's there and that it is getting closer

It feels like a thunderstorm is approaching

You don't know how severe it will be or if there will be an outbreak at all that day

Will it mean strong lightning?

Will it mean excessive rainfall?

You don't know

But you can feel it with all your senses and with every inch of your skin

You can feel it the moment you enter the room

It is like entering into an invisible wall

Two people in a room

Both trapped in their own thoughts

Thoughts based on personal experience and personal values

Fast eye movements to avoid eye contact

Both know, but for different reasons

Both try to act normal

Like two planets orbiting in universe, maintaining equilibrium in distance but are still affected by gravity from the other

No one want to disturb the equilibrium because of the consequences

No one want to take the first step but for totally different reasons

The tension is unbearable and you know it has to stop. In one way or the other

It is inevitable and there is no escape

Not this time

Maybe it is better with a heavy thunderstorm instead of this tension

You open every door and every window available, you take a deep breath and fill your lungs with air and let it all come

That is, if you are not afraid of thunderstorms!

What a dramatic and descriptive poem, Tina! I loved it. The imagery is wonderful and depicts the tension in the relationship very well!

There is nothing like a good thunderstorm to clear the air and while the build up can be so oppressive and unbearable, after it has passed the fresh, clear, cool air is just blissful. Nup, I'm not afraid of thunderstorms (and I think there is one building in our household at the moment).

This is a great hub, wonderful photos and I relate, boy do I relate. Thank you so much for sharing thortforce, all my votes to you.

Alicia, I am always glad to see you and I value your comments very much! Weather and human emotions have very much in common and I thought I would try to describe emotions in this way.

Sometimes I go and carry the injustice too long and let the anger grow so it can really feel like this:) Thank you for you kind words and your support!

Take care

Tina

Hi Fennelseed, I am so glad to meet you! Yes, it feels great afterwards but I hate that feeling before the thunderstorm. And every time I wonder how on earth it can be like that between two grown ups!

I hope the thunderstorm in your household will be a minor one this time but if not so, remember that thunderstorms commonly are very short!

Thanks for the voting and your comment

Awesome description of the beginning of a relationship, Tina. Oh, and how I love thunderstorms!

Must add - Lighting had hit me more than once. But still, I can't resist the excitement of challenging that thrilling power in the air.

Hi Martie, it is so uplifting that you read in the positive tension that can occur in the beginning of a relation in this poem! I am sorry to say that I wrote it mainly because of the opposite, when tension can occur when there is problem in a relationship. Your positive view on this hub show that you are happy in your life right now and it is inspiring. I agree with you though, the excitement in the beginning of a relationship are the best feeling ever and also moments that we never forget! I am glad you reminded me Martie, and one day soon it can well be a thunderstorm like the one you think of ! Take care and keep on spreading positive thoughts! Hugs

Hi SusieQ, Yes it really is difficult and every relationship need constant work and maintenance to stay healthy and happy. It is so easy to misunderstand each other if we forget to communicate. Thanks for reading and your vote is appreciated by me,

Lyricwriter, For some reason it is always good to hear that other can feel the same way too, because when you find yourself in such a situation, it feels a bit lonely! Yes, everything is well, there is nothing like a thunderstorm to clear the air now and then! Thanks for the votes my friend, it is great to see you here and your comment means so much to me! Take care

When the forces of nature build up to they're inevitable release in lightening and powerful vortexes its only the natural order of things. Sometimes it seems people are the only creations that allow the build up of tensions to be held in long after they should have been excised. Choice comparison and poem Tina. Do hope the weathers agreeable in lovely Sweden these days.:)

Beautiful, Tina, just like Alastar said, love your comparison of natural and social forces:)

Alastar, very good point there! That must be one of the flaws of humans, although one could expect more from a species with such a big brain! Maybe we analyze too much and interpret things in other peoples behavior that aren't there. Thanks for the thoughtful comment Alastar and yes, the weather is very calm and sunny in Sweden today:)

Take care,

Tina

Beata Stasak, sometimes it is easier to describe what goes on inside with the aid of nature:) Thanks for reading, your comment are so appreciated by me,

I love this hub. The poem is excellent and the pictures help to tell the story. So often we are wrapped in our own thoughts and refuse to share with someone who is meaningful.

Hi carol3san, I am glad you liked this. It is like you say, problems in a relationship is often due to bad communication. Sometimes we forget to talk to each other and explain how we feel. Thanks for reading,

What a great descriptive way of explaining a relationship in turmoil. I'll take a thunderstorm in nature over a thunderstorm in a relationship, any day.

thougtforce profile image

thougtforce 4 years ago from Sweden Author

Hi Minnetonka Twin. Me too, but sometimes it can't be avoided! I hate the tension before more than the outbreak though! But a real thunderstorm in nature can be so beautiful and I usually find myself either outside or inside looking out the window to observe the power of nature. It is magnificent! I am glad to see you and thanks for reading,

Tina

I could see the action happening through your words. Very descriptive of how tension builds and affects two people during emotional conflict. The thunder roars and the lightning clashes but after the storm there is peace (at least for me and my hubby). Loved your poem.

Hi teaches, the emotional tension between people can almost be touchable in a room. It is unbearable when it happens, but as you say, there is usually peace after the storm! I am so glad you liked this since it is one of my first attempts of writing a poem! I am happy to meet you and thanks for the great comment!

rebeccamealy, there are always some moments in a relationship which are more difficult than others and most of the time, the problems occur because we don't communicate enough. Thank you for votes and for reading
