America's wealthiest donate 1.3% of their income, while the poorest donate 3.2%

Lower-income Americans are presumably no more intrinsically generous (or “prosocial,” as the sociologists say) than anyone else. However, some experts have speculated that the wealthy may be less generous—that the personal drive to accumulate wealth may be inconsistent with the idea of communal support. Last year, Paul Piff, a psychologist at UC Berkeley, published research that correlated wealth with an increase in unethical behavior: “While having money doesn’t necessarily make anybody anything,” Piff later told New York magazine, “the rich are way more likely to prioritize their own self-interests above the interests of other people.” They are, he continued, “more likely to exhibit characteristics that we would stereotypically associate with, say, assholes.”

Modern Day Slavery

“The private contracting of prisoners for work fosters incentives to lock people up. Prisons depend on this income. Corporate stockholders who make money off prisoners’ work lobby for longer sentences, in order to expand their workforce. The system feeds itself,” says a study by the Progressive Labor Party, which accuses the prison industry of being “an imitation of Nazi Germany with respect to forced slave labor and concentration camps.”

David Kay Johson:

"From 1966 – when Lyndon Johnson was president — to 2011, 45 years later, the bottom 90 percent of Americans’ average income, as reported on tax returns, went up by a stunning $59 — almost no change at all. If you measure that $59 increase for the vast majority of Americans as one inch, then on the same scale, the incomes of those in the top 10 percent went up by 168 feet. The top one percent, 888 feet. The plutocrats — the Mitt Romney crowd, the top one percent of the top one percent? Their incomes rose by almost five miles relative to that one inch.

There are 6 million corporations in America, but 2,600 of them, a tiny number out of 6 million, own 80 percent of the business assets in America."

"This candidate opposes government intervention of any type, unless it's for national defense, homeland security, surveillance, prison funding and the drug war, any subsidies to oil and coal and agricultural companies, bailouts and Quantitative Easing, tax expenditures that mainly benefit the rich, and anything to do with women's bodies."

I'll mention this, as this Lilly dude apparently has a mansion here on a private island off Chatham

"Then there are pharmaceutical companies like Eli Lilly and Pfizer who denounce the idea of consumers purchasing cheap prescription drugs from Canada, but then shift patents and profits to offshore tax havens to avoid paying U.S. taxes."

Hey libtard, how about this one from AP?

Arms manufacturers in at least two states with strict new gun laws are making good on their promise to move their operations -- along with thousands of jobs and millions in tax revenues -- to locales they deem friendlier to the industry.

AR-15 manufacturer Stag Arms could soon follow suit, along with Colt's Manufacturing and Mossberg & Sons. The moves could cost the Nutmeg State 3,000 jobs as well as the estimated $1.75 billion in annual taxable revenues.

Texas is making no secret of its desire to lure the gunmakers. This month, Gov. Rick Perry turned to Twitter to welcome PTR to move to the Lone Star state.

“Hey, PTR," Perry posted on Twitter. "Texas is still wide open for business!! Come on down!"

This month, Connecticut lawmakers approved a wide-ranging bill that includes new restriction on weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines. The 139-page bipartisan bill passed 26-10 in the Senate and 105-44 in the House. The new law adds more than 100 firearms to the state’s assault weapons ban and creates what officials have called the nation’s first dangerous weapon offender registry as well as eligibility rules for buying ammunition.

The push to reform gun control laws accelerated after the Dec. 14 massacre of 20 children and six adults at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. Although proposals for strict new federal laws have not gained traction, states have taken it upon themselves to crack down on arms. Connecticut joins California, New York and Massachusetts in having some of the country’s strongest gun-control laws on the books.

Like Connecticut, the fight over tighter restrictions prompted several gun manufacturers in Colorado to threaten to leave.

In March, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper signed bills that would require background checks for private and online gun sales and ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds

Magpul Industries, which manufactures firearms accessories and ammunition magazines, said on its Facebook page that it would have "no choice" but to leave if the magazine bill was signed, causing an opening for states eager to prove they're more gun-friendly.

Magpul employs more than 200 people and generates about $85 million in annual taxable revenues.

Grassroots Facebook pages have popped up -- some, before the Colorado bills were even signed -- encouraging Magpul to settle in places like Alabama, West Virginia or Alaska.

Alaska state Rep. Tammie Wilson's staff created a Facebook page, too, called "Magpul Industries -- Alaska Wants You."

But no one has worked harder than Texas to make gun companies feel welcome. Lawmakers there have green-lighted a measure that would free up money to local and regional economic development agencies to offer incentives to gun manufacturers to relocate in the state. Perry says it's all about bringing jobs to his state, "whether you’re a weapons manufacturer or whether you’re a tubular steel manufacturer.”

"There is still a place for freedom that is very much alive and well," Perry said. "That place is called Texas."

In Connecticut, where venerable gunmakers like Colt and Sturm, Ruger & Co. have been joined in the last decade or so by upstarts like Stag Arms and PTR, reform of gun laws in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shootings has left the industry feeling unwelcome. Bristol-based high-end rifle manufacturer PTR Industries announced this month via Facebook that it would be taking its 40 jobs and $50,000 weekly payroll to an unspecified new state, widely believed to be Texas.

As global capital becomes ever more powerful, giant corporations are holding governments and citizens up for ransom — eliciting subsidies and tax breaks from countries concerned about their nation’s “competitiveness” — while sheltering their profits in the lowest-tax jurisdictions they can find. Major advanced countries — and their citizens — need a comprehensive tax agreement that won’t allow global corporations to get away with this.

Google, Amazon, Starbucks, every other major corporation, and every big Wall Street bank, are sheltering as much of their U.S. profits abroad as they can, while telling Washington that lower corporate taxes are necessary in order to keep the U.S. “competitive.”

“Ed, do you want to hear one of the great obscenities of our time?” Sanders asked. “The wealthiest family in this country is the Walton family. They are worth about a hundred billion dollars. That’s more wealth than the bottom 40 percent of the American people.”

“One of the reasons that the Walton family, the owners of Walmart, are so wealthy is that they receive huge subsidies from the taxpayers of this country,” he said. “When you pay, at Walmart, starvation wages, you don’t provide benefits to your workers, who picks up the difference? The answer is that many of the workers in Walmart end up getting Medicaid, they get food stamps, they get affordable housing paid for by the taxpayers of this country while the Walton family remains the wealthiest family in America.”

“If that is not obscene, I don’t know what is,” Sanders concluded.

"Yelp, Facebook and Google Partner With ALEC"

By Natasha Lennard, Salon

18 August 13

"Why is anyone surprised. Google, Facebook and all the rest of the internet giants are right wing corporations and are run by CEO who think they should have political power just like the Koch Brothers. All these CEOs want is the ability to grow without any regulations. They know they are engaged in a criminal business -- collecting information on everyone and selling it to all buyers. If there is any democracy or human rights in the world, some day Google, Facebook, and the rest will be stopped by legislation. They want to prevent that. ALEC is their best defense."

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, you SOB

By Michael Allen, Wed, January 02, 2013

House Democrats have accused House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) of a conflict of interest in the debt ceiling debate.

Rep. Cantor has an investment in ProShares Trust Ultrashort 20+ Year Treasury ETF, a fund which has a short (a bet) against U.S. government bonds, reports Salon.com.

If the U.S. debt ceiling is not raised and the United States defaults on its debts, then Rep. Cantor will profit from the ProShares trust fund.

In response, House Democrats are circulating a resolution, which states that Rep. Cantor "stands to profit from U.S. treasury default, which thereby raises the appearance of a conflict of interest," and "may be sabotaging [debt ceiling] negotiations for his own personal gain."

"Majority Leader Cantor has compromised the dignity and integrity of the Members of the House by raising the appearance of a conflict of interest in negotiations with the executive branch over raising the debt ceiling."

Last year the Wall Street Journal reported that Rep. Cantor had between $1,000 and $15,000 invested in ProShares Trust. According to Rep. Cantor's latest financial disclosure statement, which covers the year 2010, he still has up to $15,000 in the same fund.

Cantor spokesman Brad Dayspring claims that Rep. Cantor owns $3,327 in the ProShares trust, but his congressional pension is invested in the G Fund of government bonds and is valued at over $263,000.

Dayspring said: "For the conspiracy theorists, they would have to believe that Eric would want to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars to make a few thousands in return. Putting aside the lunacy of it all, he would lose hundreds of thousands of dollars if he did what they suggest."

"The insinuation is so outrageous that it shows a fundamental lack of understanding about how the markets work, how the U.S. economy works. Any member of Congress who would seriously identify themselves with this would reveal a complete inability to understand the United States economy and basic investing."

Why?

"Entreprenuers become increasingly dominant over those who own only their own labor.

When pay setters set their own pay there is no limit"

For example, they always say, if we increase wages, we must raise price......why?

How about the ceo takes 10 mil instead of 53 mil? Then, hed have 43 mil to pay his workers with.

"Congressman Dave Camp, the Republican Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, released a plan today that would dramatically slash the federal corporate income tax rate from its current 35 percent, which Camp says is currently the “highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world,” to 25 percent in order to make the U.S. more “competitive.”

But the premise that our corporate tax is too burdensome on companies is wrong, and my colleagues and I prove it in a report that we have released today. This new report from Citizens for Tax Justice (CTJ) and the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) finds that most profitable U.S multinational corporations actually pay higher effective tax rates in the foreign countries where they do business than they pay here in the U.S.

Our report examines the Fortune 500 corporations that have been consistently profitable for the previous five years and finds that as a group they paid just 19.4 percent of their profits in U.S. income taxes over the five-year period, while a third paid less than 10 percent.

Several well-known companies paid no U.S. income taxes at all over the five-year period studied — including General Electric, Verizon, Priceline, Boeing, Corning and 21 other profitable corporations."

"it was all just a cover story anyway — or, to put it more bluntly, a con.

“I strongly suspect that if Jensen and Meckling had not come out with this line of thinking, you would have gotten something similar to justify the actions of the leveraged buyout kings, who were just getting started in the 1970s and were reshaping the corporate landscape by the mid-1980s. They were doing many of the things Jensen and Meckling recommended: breaking up multi-business companies, thinning out corporate centers, and selling corporate assets.”

The end result of all this was not just a corporate environment in which psychopaths and sociopaths could flourish; it had the effect of turning corporations themselves into sociopaths, as their traditional responsibilities to multiple stakeholders were tossed on the rubbish heap in the name of short-term profits to maximize shareholder value. That was the point of “The Corporation,” a 2003 Canadian documentary that took the concept of “legal personhood” to its logical conclusion, asked “What kind of person is it?”, and concluded that the answer was “a sociopath.”

But less than a year later Tribune went bankrupt, with $7.6 billion in assets and $13 billion in debt. “More than 4200 people lost their jobs, but despite the company’s troubles, executives got tens of millions of dollars in bonuses,” Hayes pointed out. “Try doing what Sam Zell did if you’re not in the one percent”

"The Big Lie is that Central Banks don’t care about gold. Nothing could be further from the truth.

According to public records, the Government of Ukraine owns 33 tonnes of gold that was being safekept in Ukraine. Last week a Ukrainian newspaper reported that acting PM Arseny Yatsenyuk ordered the transfer of that gold to the United States.

Unfortunately, it is likely that the citizens of Ukraine will end up paying a major price for allowing the U.S. to “safekeep” their sovereign gold.

The Ukrainian gold reserves have been delivered safely to vaults in China under U.S./UK bullion bank contractual delivery obligations, where it will be locked away for centuries."

Some are born into it....so what do they know about comfort?

They have ease of living.

Many work for it.....most likely, the higher up you go--the less you work, and your life is eased tremendously.

Then there are those who work, and work hard...2, 3 jobs at stinking low wages.

They know no ease whatsoever. HOWEVER, they can have the comfort of loved ones, animals, and good friends.

Their comfort is earned after a long day of work.

Those in the top have ease....comfort is taken for granted.

"I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible; Jew, Gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone, and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The airplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men; cries out for universal brotherhood; for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women, and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me, I say, do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish. Soldiers! Don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you, enslave you; who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel! Who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men - machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines, you are not cattle, you are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts! You don't hate! Only the unloved hate; the unloved and the unnatural."

"European bank Credit Suisse AG pleaded guilty Monday to helping wealthy Americans avoid paying taxes through secret offshore accounts.

The settlement resolves a yearslong criminal investigation into allegations that Credit Suisse, Switzerland's second-largest bank, recruited U.S. clients to open Swiss accounts, helped them conceal the accounts from the Internal Revenue Service and enabled misconduct by bank employees.

Law enforcement officials said a criminal charge was necessary to account for the bank's pattern of misconduct, which spanned decades and included a lack of cooperation with investigators and the destruction of critical documents.

As part of its plea agreement, Credit Suisse acknowledged that it operated an "illegal cross-border banking business" that enabled thousands of American customers to hide their assets from the Internal Revenue Service.

The criminal case follows a damning recent Senate subcommittee investigation that found the bank provided accounts in Switzerland for more than 22,000 U.S. clients totaling $10 billion to $12 billion.

The report said Credit Suisse sent Swiss bankers to recruit American clients at golf tournaments and other events, encouraged U.S. customers to travel to Switzerland and actively helped them hide their assets. In one instance, a Credit Suisse banker handed a customer bank statements hidden in a Sports Illustrated magazine during a breakfast meeting in the United States.

Justice Department officials see the case as part of a broader crackdown on foreign banks believed to be helping U.S. taxpayers hide assets.

In 2009, Switzerland's largest bank, UBS, entered a deferred prosecution agreement with the Justice Department in which it agreed to pay $780 million in fines and turn over the names of thousands of customers suspected of evading U.S. taxes. The country's oldest bank, Wegelin & Co., pleaded guilty in January 2013 to U.S. tax charges, admitting that it helped American clients hide more than $1.2 billion from the IRS.

A report from the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations accused the Justice Department of lax enforcement and faulted the government for gleaning only 238 names of U.S. citizens with secret accounts at Credit Suisse, or just 1 percent of the estimated total.

Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., who heads the subcommittee that conducted the investigation, said Monday that he was disappointed that the bank was not obligated under the deal to provide names of U.S. clients with secret Swiss bank accounts. But Justice Department officials said they were satisfied with the overall amount of customer information that the bank would be required to turn over."

Thu Feb 27, 2014

(Reuters) - U.S. Senate Republicans blocked legislation on Thursday that would have expanded federal healthcare and education programs for veterans, saying the $24 billion bill would bust the budget.

Even though the legislation cleared a procedural vote on Tuesday by a 99-0 vote, the measure quickly got bogged down in partisan fighting.

Supporters said the measure would have brought the most significant changes in decades to U.S. veterans' programs. For example, it called for 27 new medical facilities to help a healthcare system that is strained by veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

With Democrats pressing for passage this week, Senate Republicans, backed by their leader, Mitch McConnell, attempted to attach controversial legislation calling for possible new sanctions on Iran that President Barack Obama opposes.

"The issue of Iran sanctions ... has nothing to do with the needs of veterans," complained Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee Chairman Bernard Sanders of Vermont, the main sponsor of the bill.

Republicans also raised budget concerns, forcing another key procedural vote that ended up killing the bill. By a vote of 56-41, the Senate failed to waive budget rules that would have allowed the bill to proceed. Sixty votes were needed and 41 of the chamber's 45 Republicans voted against the waiver.

Referring to recent budget deals that aim to bring down federal deficits, Republican Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama said: "This bill would spend more than we agreed to spend. The ink is hardly dry and here we have another bill to raise that spending again."

The legislation had the backing of most veterans' organizations, but was doomed by deep disagreements between Democrats and Republicans that have made this Congress one of the least productive in decades.

Sanders, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, had hoped senators would, "rise above the day-to-day rancor and the party politics that we see on this floor almost every single day," and support a law affecting 22 million veterans, including more than 2 million who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

With Thursday's vote, Congress sent another disjointed message to the nation's veterans.

In December, Congress passed a two-year budget deal that included a reduction in veterans' pension benefits. Weeks later, Congress did an about-face and repealed many of the cuts.

And early this week, with the initial 99-0 procedural vote on Sanders' bill, the Senate appeared to be delivering a strong show of support for veterans, only to see the legislation die in the Senate with Thursday's vote.

"U.S. President Barack Obama will call on Thursday for an end to a corporate loophole that allows companies to avoid federal taxes by shifting their tax domiciles overseas in deals known as “inversions,” White House officials said.

For the more than 10 million U.S. households who lack a bank account, check cashers charge fees as high as 5 percent.

This may not sound like much, but consider a low-income worker who takes home around $1,500 per month: She’d pay $75 just to cash her paychecks. Add in the cost of money orders—which she’ll need to pay her rent and other bills—and we’re talking about $1,000 per year just for financial services."

"Even Tim Wu, the man who coined the term net neutrality, will tell you that the fast lane idea isn’t what it seems. “The fast lane is not a literal truth,” he says. “But it’s a sense that you should have a fair shot.” On the modern internet, as Wu indicates, the real issue is that such a small number of internet service providers now control the pipes that reach out to U.S. consumers—and that number is getting even smaller, with Comcast looking to acquire Time Warner, one of its biggest rivals. The real issue is that the Comcasts and Verizons are becoming too big and too powerful. Because every web company has no choice but to go through these ISPs, the Comcasts and the Verizons may eventually have too much freedom to decide how much companies must pay for fast speeds."

Hey--I'd be happy to not use fossil fuels....but I don't control the world.....

"Shortly before marijuana was banned by The Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, new technologies were developed that made hemp a potential competitor with the newly-founded synthetic fiber and plastics industries. Hemp's potential for producing paper also posed a threat to the timber industry (see New Billion-Dollar Crop). Evidence suggests that commercial interests having much to lose from hemp competition helped propagate reefer madness hysteria, and used their influence to lobby for Marijuana Prohibition."

Sheldon Adelson hates America. He said in a speech he regreted serving in her military. And proud his son is in another country's force....maybe to attack America!

"In spring 2004 as Order 81 was promulgated by Bremer’s CPA, supporters of the radical young cleric Moqtada al Sadr were protesting the closing of their newspaper, al Hawza, by US military police. The CPA accused al Hawza of publishing ‘false articles’ that could ‘pose the real threat of violence.” As an example, it cited an article that claimed Bremer was, ‘pursuing a policy of starving the Iraqi people to make them preoccupied with procuring their daily bread so they do not have the chance to demand their political and individual freedoms.’

It's interesting...both Trump and Sanders talk about the money influence in politics (well, everything really)

But Trump is part of the "billionaire class" that Sanders excoriates!

Personally, I don't trust Trump. He's got such a huge ego: I have to wonder, with all this stuff he's talking: What's in it for him? Because, after all...the "art if the deal" is to get what you want while making people think you are giving them what they want....isn't it?

Too many red flags for me.....too many hard-core right influences for my taste.

That's not Indie, that's hard-right. Because--where is the hard-left side?

And.....what's in it for him? "Make America great again"?...what do you mean, Again? For me it means, "when we cared about each other". What does "again" mean to him?

But Sanders? He's been fighting the same fight all his adult life. No one has to wonder what he means...he'll tell you.

I will say, tho....I once watched on public tv, a debate for the Senate in Vermont. They had about 5 other candidates, and one of them said Sanders was a corporate sell-out. Sanders!

So--it just shows tho......a lot of America agrees with Sanders....the real silent majority! They like his values. And they can see what he's saying is true. We have been Robbed Blind by the top-of-the-top.

And that's a crime.

And I'm old enough to remember when gangs used fists, tire irons, baseball bats, knives.....

No little kid ever died from drive-by-tire iron....as least as far as I know.

And here you see the real problem with this issue....

One guy says: "I'm not against guns, just assault rifles in the hands of the mentally ill.

Next guy says: "So when you do away with all our guns.......

*sigh*

Like banging head against wall.

No one DESERVES a gun that kills 30 people in 5 seconds. No one.

No one DESERVES bullets that pierce vests. No one.

Frankly, I find the business/wall street/billionaire class a bunch of ingrates!

Obama said it: You didn't do it on your own. And, of course, he was demonizes to high heaven.

Now, we see the Republican candidates outraged about the media's treatment of them...try being Obama for a day! .....And he's already the president!

Anyway: back to the ingrates, and those, like Trump, who was born on third base and acts like he hit a home run...

Mariana Mazzucato:

"Everything you can do with an iPhone was government -funded. From the internet, that allows you to surf the Web, to GPS that lets you use Google maps, to touchscreen display and even the SIRI voice-activated system---all of these things were funded by Uncle Sam through the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), NASA, the Navy and even the CIA."

"That's true of Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk and every pharmaceutical CEO. They may be brilliant leaders, and they certainly deserve compensation for their roles, but the main accomplishment of each was to assemble the parts provided by years of public research."

A little gratitude is due. And a F of a lot more taxes!

lovemychris profile image

lovemychris 13 months ago from Cape Cod, USA Author

I'm surprised you smart people don't know this....must be blinded by ideology I guess. To me, it's been obvious since Reagan.

The Republican's idea is to give huge tax cuts to very wealthy people.

Someone asked, if you take in so little tax revenue, how do you fund the gvt?

Answer is: you don't .You cut it. Chop it up into little pieces....small enough to go down the bath-tub drain, wasn't it? Something like that.

Cut services, cut institutions, national parks, etc. Cut help to people who need it: children, vets and old people. Cut all the wonderful things that make this an enjoyable place to live.

Everyone is on their own; only the rich survive...trust me . Only they live any sort of fulfilling life.

Come to think of it, they'll probably move to some country that actually cares about its citizens, and has great service, great transportation, great national park areas, good schools for their kids, etc

They'll leave us here to rot in their lousy paying jobs, making them rich by our labor, while they move to a country that spends on its people, and quality of life is amazing.

Republican Utopia.

I really don't know why you haven't gotten it yet: it's only been going on for 30+ years!

Oh, but while they're cutting from you, aide to Israel will increase.

And they will justify that by demonizing Islam.

And they will justify their thievery by blaming Obama....and when they are ripping you off to poverty-level existance, they will say "You asked for it"...

And you did. And you do.

Boycott Republicans!

******

So what happened between then and now, where LaPierrr pays people to prevent cities from banning armor piercing bullets and guns used by gangsters in the 30's? If not profit, what is it?

You seriously saying that you deserve armor piercing bullets, cause "freedom"?

When does my freedom come in,? Free to be free of f'n assault rifles owned by mental cases who might hate me because im pro choice, and like the tyrant Obama?

Why arent cops free from armor piercing bullets being fired at them?

Or is it that gun owners demand more freedom than the rest of us?

Im not free to drive without MYRIAD of regulations....which are there not for my benefit, but those around me who are affected by me driving. Car is serious business...can kill and hurt people.

Yet.....we have conceal and carry guns....what regs?

Guns in bars? Can i drink and drive? But drink and shoot ok?

Guns in schools? What are you teaching my kids? Forcing me to accept your gun culture!

Nah...this bs is way out of hand. Gun culture is fine....as long as you keep it where it belongs. You have gun clubs, shooting ranges, hunting season...I want no part of it, and should not be forced!

Now we see black-market gun culture heavily involved in all the terror networks....obviously

You have right to guns...for hunting, protection and pleasure...you have no right to invade my freedom from them.

And if not for profit, then what?

As JC said 2,000 yrs ago: everything gets turned into a den if thieves.

And America is top among thievery. Just look at a chart of income distribution over 40 years. Outright theft.

Guns fall right in there. Selling fear, hatred and blood-lust for money.

It gives honorable gun owners a bad name. When are you going to do something about your wackos like LaPierre?

On my twitter feed:

"In less than one year of majority Tory rule, they are turning UK into a totalitarian state"

That would be right wing conservatism, yes?

Take heed America, take heed!!!

I do not trust this Kasich nice guy act. I remember how mean and nasty he was as Speaker...

As Maya Angelo said, when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

Trump's campaign manager worked for Koch bros Americans For Prosperity before going to Trump.

Ann Coulter says woman reporter is hysterical--age old misogynistic term for any woman who doesn't take crap.

Go on and call him outsider. This club has been around a long time.

It's always worse to me when women are anti woman on behalf of a man.

Boy, some people here have a weird way of looking at the world. I work to take care of me and my family. Why else work? The fact I pay taxes makes sense! I don't know how to make roads, or fly a plane, or put out a fire. We need these people...

Gvt is people. I suppose some would rather privatize everything and pay the banks for the privilege of living, but not me. I'm proud of what America has accomplished. Sorry some people can only disparage everything we work and stand for, and dream of handing it over to big biz and banks.

Let's see...paying people off so they look the other way at your illegal activity is what the mafia does, eh Darling Donald?

And what's with the porn pics of Melania? was she one of THOSE models?

Watching hearing on h2b workers.....do you know how much money biz owners save by using foreign workers and paying on the cheap? Learned that a Ryder was put in legislation which removed workers protections (gee, wonder who did that? (rebaglicans)

This is business --run America: Screw everyone for a profit. And you want this as president? How embarrassing!

Why they hate democrats like hillary: "rich people and corporations will have to pay their fair share. We will follow the money"

Why they luuuuv republicans and dumpy: "you poor poor uber rich and international corporations have it way too hard. We will lower your taxes so you can buy a whole island, not just a mansion on it"

I mean, who do these workers think they are? They owe us their lives!! Where would they be without the low paying, no benefit jobs that we offer? For God's sakes, we can go to other countries and pay even less. They should be grateful for the pittance we offer for their sweat, blood and loyalty."

BOOOOOOOOOO

Unregulated Capitalism is going to cause an implosion of the economy of the United States. Capitalism in the present unregulated form is unsustainable. While A Capitalist is voted in to represent the Republican Party by millions of misguided white Americans who believe people of color has taken over America. Blinded by hate and confusion they are ready to give control to one of the most greedy and corrupted non tax paying Capitalist to ever run for President of The United States. America's job and economic problems is not about race its about class and the lack of taxes collected from the Super Rich Capitalist that control everything we see and hear about America's problems.
