Prose - How Will You Live?

What will you do
When your heart is finally broken?
What will you say
When your future has already spoken?
Will you be ready
For someone smarter than you?
How will you react
If they are richer than you?
Will you retreat
When you think you cannot win?
Will you hide
And never be seen again?
What will you do?

Choose freedom
Or loneliness?
Choose independence
Or wistfulness?
Be unquestioned
Or engaged?
Choose discretion
Or prearranged?
Be indulged
Or compromised?
Choose solitude
Or be centralized?
Be in deep thought
Or distracted?
Be creative
Or redacted?
Be in a crowd
Or alone?
Be connected
Or without a phone?
Be free to speak
Or politically correct?
Be available
Or forced to reject?
Be promiscuous
Or faithful?
Be experimental
Or traditional?
Be open-minded
Or of one belief?
Be changing
Or of constant relief?
Be worldly
Or pure?
Be bold
Or demure?
Be searching
Or be found?
Be questioning
Or bound
Be an island
Or a mate?
Choose wandering
Or sedate?
Be lonely
Or together?
Be yourself
Or another?
Choose calm
Or jealousy?
Choose understanding
Or money?

Do you know how to live
With only a heart that is strong?
Do you know how to be happy
By humbly righting a wrong?
Will you be ready
To show everyone your character?
Will you stand up
And handle the pressure?
Can you show them your dignity
Even if you are poor?
Will you do the right thing
And welcome anyone to your door?
Do you know how to live?

I voted up...awesome, beautiful,and interesting.

The further down the page I read, the more endearing and thought provoking it got. It arouses your inner thoughts about how you feel about yourself and others, about life, thank you.

@SunnyJay - Thank you for commenting... it's a matter of drawing someone in and then hopefully they realize that they are not inside my life but inside their own and are looking around to see what they are and what they want to be.

@x2x3 - uh... ok is that a math equation? I'm stumped... Searnching our inner-self is probably the answer but then can a person find the what they need inside? I say yes but for some it is difficult. You have to find a reason to live and to be happy.

@randee109 - Thank you! Hey! You're from the Valley? I used to live in SPI back in 1980-82....

I hope I can live up to that last verse. So well put. No one could say it better. Thanks for the inspiration! (May have to use that verse in my quote book for me w/your approval and, of course, your attribution!) Awesome - and I loved the photo at the beginning!

@Teylina - I hope I can too. I hope I can live happily as a humble person just helping others but I know that for some reason it is a challenge; I can be very "me-centric...." Thank you...

"me-centric" -- what a cool way to describe oneself! I, too, am very much so in some ways and have had to admit it, but usually doesn't involved things, but time and horrid situations (like some of my sub classes in hi school!) or taking time to clean when I'd just as soon put it off and do something else!

@Teylina - 'me-centric" aka selfish....

OK--then I have to take it all back. I'm only selfish if no one else is around! Talk about bloopers! I didn't look at it that way because egocentric, really don't apply to me; but I do like my small battles for running away and 'losing' my cell phone!
