Prose - In God's Image

A revealing mind
Blinding my sight
A burning bush
The eternal light
The image of man
Or the silent spirit?
Tears flow readily
As the candle is lit
The vanity of man
To see God in the reflection
Of our physical self
And Jesus' crucifixion
An image of a woman
Or the silent thought?
Anger rises to the surface
What have we wrought?
Dark colored skin
Or is it white?
Love is inside
Whether day or night
Each of us
A snowflake
Bound by a feeling
Whether asleep or awake
If I cry
Is that sadness?
If I shout
Is that gladness?
When my brother
Who believes
In his God
Quietly grieves
What can I say?
God is not you?
Or is God his sorrow
And my grief too?
Can you see?
Can you measure?
Can you record
An invisible treasure?
The image of God
Every woman
Every man
The color spectrum
Still the bush burns
The revealing mind is silent
Emotion is alive
Is it peaceful or violent?
As my body rots
With discarded remains
Will God remember
That my heart was not Cain’s?

@Binaya.Ghimire - but will it ever be found? I appreciate you for reading my stuff. Thank you and let's keep looking!

@Peggy W - Thank you... this was inspired by a discussion I had on Facebook about being made in God's image... it's something I've thought about quite a bit for some reason....
