Prose - So Far Yet So Close

Is there reason to hope?
Or should it be a dream?
You are far away as the stars
Where distance silences a scream
A picture beckons
With a soft face
Is it your dream too?
Will we ever be in the same place?
As others try to love us
We feel nothing but their eyes
Even though they are near
We are unmoved by their sighs
An ocean as deep as your soul
A bottomless well of temptation
I cannot return to the surface
I must breathe with imagination
How long can I swim
With bursting lungs of love?
When I arrive at the bottom
Will you have swum above?
Where longing is smothered by reality
Is there a reason to swim?
Can you find life from afar?
Or must we die for our life to begin?

What a loving thought.... Deep down in my heart I am thinking the beautiful of this romance shoul never die... Should stay alive, and should teach the loveless hearts a lesson of true love.....

I love it!

@Nayomi - Well it is a poem of two people who cannot be together either by distance or circumstance.... many people find themselves in this situation and spend time waiting to go to sleep because their dream is better than their life... kind of sad I guess too.... thank you for your very nice remarks....

A very moving and heartfelt poem. I guess I am fortunate to love and be loved and to enjoy each moment with the one I love. It must be so difficult to love from afar. Great work and voting up and pressing your buttons.

I find it beautiful fearing if love will be going the other direction, yet still willing to go for it anyway. "where distance silences a scream", love this line. stands out to my hearts eyes. Up and beautiful my friend.

@Matt - thank you for saying that; I wish I was there too! I'm fascinated with SE Asia and hope to make the journey someday. I just saw Slumdog Millionaire again last night so I was thinking about that part of the world.

@acaetnna - thank you and yes you are lucky but so is he to have someone with such a loving and open heart as you have. With that kind of feeling you will always have love. Hopefully it's in the same town though! Those long-distance relationships are tough...

@Eiddwen - thank you very much. I enjoy writing and this one came to mind and I was happy to write it.

@Lady_Tenaz - hey... thanks for that. Yes the photo was good (except I don't like the Speedo!). It was perfect because I wanted someone deep underwater without SCUBA gear so you could see the commitment to love; almost obsessive...
