Prose - Soothe your Fears

I could ask you to spend your life with me
But why does that seem so shocking?
People do it right after they say hello

They see hope in a person they don’t really know

And what about your love for me?
Will you give me everything I want?
Or will you make me wait for you?

Like a man who truly loves you would do

You wonder if you really know me
And if I’ll stay after we make love
But just watch how I treat my family and friends

That’s how I’ll treat you no matter how it ends

You wonder if you will get a call from me
Even though last night I screamed my promise
Would a man be so shallow as to take a flower

And not return to the garden where he felt love's power?

You looked into my eyes to see what you could see
And my soul reflected your hopes back to you
You wondered if I could tell you anything more

Am I the man you are looking for?

Suburban, you sound like the type of man that many a woman would love to find. If you haven't already found her, believe me she will find you. It's amazing how it happens to when we least expect it. I have found in my life those were the best kinds of meetings, the unexpected. This was a loving poem from your heart, you have a lot to give the right lady, and when you both find each other, wow the fireworks are going to go off big time, I sense that in this piece. Bravo, voted up, awesome and beautiful as always.

Vincent my man.... yeah it always seems to happen when you aren't looking; maybe it's because you are just being yourself and that honesty attracts the one who is right for you... I appreciate your kind words.... it's tough to find the right fit... I'm kind of waiting and being cautious because my children are involved.

Hey Mark

You view love deep like I do

Hesitation and wonder

I like the way this one flows and the way you set up the lines

Good stuff

An expression of your values. Now the task is to discover the woman with these same values. You ability of describing how you believe a person should conduct themselves is exquisite. It's up and Beautiful.

@Ben - Thank you man. Yeah I think if you look deep then you will only want deep. I don't just fall just to have a companion. It has to be right...

@Eanatas - Thank you. That's a good way to put it.. "an expression of... values..." I really didn't start out thinking that but it became that. I was wondering how I could write something that would help a woman find the clues to what I try to be about. But I have my flaws obviously... we all do...

This is one of the best poems I’ve read about love in a long time. There is respect, depth of character and feeling, and profound consideration and tenderness.

Very impressive and beautifully done.

@Genna - Well what can I say but thank you. That is a very kind thing to say... I struggled with this one a bit and revisited it several times which is contrary to my normal style of first draft/final draft.... I try to think about how it really is between two people and their fears....

how can a woman say no to that proposal? well, it's their loss...great poem...and wishing if all men were like that, there would be no misery in this world...

@always - You are very nice to say that. I just try to be honest and realistic as I write.

@pmccray - Thank you again!

@raciniwa - Thank you. I'm not the easiest guy in the world to deal with believe me. It's so much easier to say nice things in a poem but the real challenge is life itself....

This is full of insight and understanding of how a woman's mind works. It allow offers a glimpse of how one man's mind works. This one is worth sharing.

@WannaB Writer - Thank you for your nice comment. I'm not sure if I really do understand how a woman's mind works but I know my experience in life so I go with that. As for insight into myself I just try to tell you how I think....

Hi Deborah - Oh... I don't know about the wonderful man stuff... In the song "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac she say's, "Players only love you when they are playing." Sometimes I think that's me... I'm not such a good husband, a pretty good boy friend and a great date! So.... you know I'm just a guy who likes to write. I do appreciate everything you say. You have been very supportive of me. I have my life's experiences and I don't know if I really understand women but although they think I'm not listening to them, I am in fact hearing every word...
