Protest or Text?

Hey all you people
Spending time on your own
Look out the window
The water’s reached your home

You know once upon a time
We tried to get it together
Now we’re living apart
‘Cause we’re afraid of the weather

They were scared of us
We were the counter-culture
Now that’s all gone
Somebody stole our future

How can the wind blow
When we are afraid to speak?
If its change you want
You gotta’ know it ain’t for the weak

It’s up to you
But you have to walk outside
Nothings gonna’ happen
If you always stay inside

People don’t look you in the eye
Instead they’d rather text
They walk right by freedom
I wonder who’ll do it next?

It’s our turn again
We can’t count on society
Don’t look away
The hippies are you and me

Maybe you don’t understand
Maybe your son needs to get drafted
Then we’ll all know
Who’s really getting shafted

This is a fast-paced comment on -- most everything. I really like it, Mark!

This is so true it's scary. I'm guilty of this myself, but I am slowly starting to take more action.

The pace of the verse is indeed quick and that makes it catchy from the start....

We all know ourselves better than anyone else.. we need to realize this fact... and to add to it... we do realize.. but then an action is response to a realization can only make the same complete

yeah, staying in the comfort zone does no good to us...real life is living outside our cocoon...

Thanks to all of you who posted... Nellieanna, PHILLYDREAMER, rahul, and raciniwa... it's a thing I have and I see others do too about how insulated and narrow we are in our focus.... technology has many wonderful uses (such as this blog!) but let's look up and talk to each other too!
