Purge - We Love You
Oh yes, we all need a nice purge every now and then.
Purge, they say, let it all out
Don't keep things bottled up inside!
But then, I ask, what will I have
to hold onto, to dwell on?
Don't you know who I am?
Purge, they say, it'll make it all better!
Why should I? So you can stand back,
pointing your hypocritical finger,
snickering your god damned snickers
at my shortcomings?
Purge, they say, we'll love you better!
No, you have it wrong.
You'll love yourself better.
I hold the anger, the sadness,
the fear, the panic, and I
hold it close like a dear friend,
because I am Misery.
If I purge, like you say,
I'll have nothing left.
I'll be an empty, hollow shell.
