Questions with No Answers

Illusory answers swoop like fisher birds in my mind,

taunting me, never to impart to my seeking enquiry.

So close yet unattainable the bird swallows me whole,

and like a worm in its gut I squirm, trapped,

surrounded by the truth I can never know.

My confusion is a whirlwind, in which I stand,

all sides lead to disaster, the centre as calm as death.

Like being drawn from one side to another,

the irrational fear of indecision racks me down to bone.

My core aches for release.

I fall to my knees, ground to pulp, unwilling to surrender,

unwilling for the truth to elude me, to forsake me.

The lack of resolution taunts me still, all those questions,

questions that life holds tightly in her purse,

and gives me only the mind to ask them.

One day, when bones to ashes I may open that purse,

when I become the fisher bird, and answers no longer need the telling.

Perhaps I will know why, and fall peacefully to my past indulgence,

and lay still in the silence of truth,

where the act of striving becomes the knowledge of eternal peace.

Sometimes, my friend, complex questions require the drugery of trail and error, eventually to discover a quickened approach. The gamut of unknown variables and dead-ends strewn roundabout is quite unsatisfactory to the inquiring mind. Although, we must truge on confidently to discover truth.

Great symbolism, Tony, I enjoyed reading your thoughtful and philosophical muse of the moment.
