Whether the reflections of nature rippling on the water or reflections of pleasant memories lingering in the mind and shimmering in the ether - or of both water and memory - there is something magical about refections. They resonate radiantly much longer than the duration of their actual temporary existence and provide dimensions beyond the mundane.

I watch a single drop of water form

From a rain-wet leaf

And gather

Random moisture

From its waxy green

Into a sphere of purity,

Then shatter

Upon the pavement,

Unnoticed by the stars,

Their fate,

In miniature.

This warm early-summery morning, I am touched by an array of pleasant thoughts and sensations. They are nothing dramatic or unusual, but their combination is especially delightful and reminiscent of many other such resplendent mornings. The windows are still open, with a gentle fragrant breeze wafting throughout the house and caressing my skin.

A few moments

In my life

Are truly precious,

Their glint and glow

As fleeting

As the sparkle

Of a distant star,

Their source

As real.

As near,

As far.

When a moment suspends

In silence

Too profound to break,

It cannot

Be forgot.

Turquoise vibrations emanate

At times

Around intense

Aquarian dreams

And sweep into

Brilliant rainbows of the mind.

My oasis,

My mirage,

Are one,

Filling at the vanishing point,

Perpetually pouring

Out of sight

Except when thirsty.

I am never dry.

From whence comes water,

I cannot know,

For, lo -

I cannot see my own eyes.

Water-colored sunset

Inked in with branches

Silhouetted on the pink and gold.

Morning glory

Fades in memory.

How brief

The sweet illusions

Yet how eternal.

Vivid Imagery possesses Truth.
No need to flaunt it.
It often dwells in stillness,
And in Truth ~

The Comforter

I wanted

To light your life

With a thousand

Lights and colors,

To fill your heart

With melodies

And laughter,

Ever after.

To lift your walk

Upon the ground

At eventide much lighter

Than a flight of birds,

Stir your morning fires brighter

Than the sun itself.

When and where
Are here and now.
And how
Is simply..

Every day's

A beautiful

Memories . . . like the corners of my mind, misty water-colored memories of the way we were . . .

Nature . . . hauntingly lovely gently reflected in a stream . . .

Beautiful work once again, Nellieanna.

I especially liked this:

"..Then shatter

Upon the pavement,

Unnoticed by the stars,

Their fate,

In miniature."

This is delightful, gentle, appeasing... especially before going to bed after a hard day’s work. You are my idea of an angel, Nellieanna! I’m looking forward to buy an e-book filled with your poems :))))

Thank you, Will! I'm pleased that you like it. Those lines you especially singled out were written from actually watching the raindrops on leaves and thinking how fleeting are beauty, destiny and life - both in microcosm and macrocosm. One would think we'd notice & get the message more often & easily & clearly just by observation. :-)

My dear sweet Martie. You're so sweet. And I have not forgotten a handwritten one just for you. I'm slow but actually was thinking about that today! Hugs. Thank you for the lovely description of this hub. Hugs.

Nellianna, when I want to be uplifted or inspired, I stop by your hubs to read your poetry and enjoy the art that goes with it. I liked them all, the thought that everyday is a new beginning is always a good reminder.

Just a few nights ago, my mate and I were awed by the sunset touching the trees and waterfalls that we have in the back garden... it was one of those moments that the natural beauty of life can give us. This poem touched me:

Water-colored sunset

Inked in with branches

Silhouetted on the pink and gold.

Morning glory

Fades in memory.

How brief

The sweet illusions

Yet how eternal.

Rated beautiful and voted up!

VioletSun, I'm pleased that you feel that way about the tone of my hubs. I'm smiling to be re-reminded about every day's being a new beginning, thinking perhaps each moment also qualifies as a new beginning!

Your back garden sounds breathtakingly lovely. I'd love to see that part of the country sometime and, of course, I love sunsets. They're one of nature's most indiscriminate gifts, pouring beauty upon any ground setting. The sunsets at the ranch with its semi-desert topography are incredible and the ones visible from my more verdant back yard here in Dallas are, too, though with each of their differences. George and I would always call each other to come look at a gorgeous sunset, if we didn't happen to see it together at the same time. So nice to share with your mate.

Thank you for the visit, comments and votes!

Hi Nellieanna,

I don't know what it is about your gentle words that conjures up the sounds of wonderful music that seem to compliment each other I hope you will find this one fits.

Reflections is a great theme and there is no greater magical moment when you see a magnificent reflection upon the black surface of a still lake.

In many ways your words have captured that moment !

Raghav - I'm delighted that you relate to these simple, beloved memories. It's a pleasure to share with you - always! Hugs.

Merlin, my guru - Thank you. What kind words of gentle mutual enjoyment of a few memories and reflections of mine.

I so agree that a reflection on the glass-like stillness of a lake is just magical! Many early mornings or late evenings when I accompanied George on his bass boat to his favorite little coves that looked "bassy" to him, hearing the whizz of his light line being cast and the plunk of it hitting the surface -and maybe a splash as some bassy inhabitant was seduced by his lure - then the splish-spalshing as he reeled it in - and the kerplunk as he released it to continue being bassy - - ah. The trees reflecting on the water, an occasional fishing-minded bird swooping down and casting a moving reflection -- wow. I didn't fish much, but took a sketch pad and notebook - - and captured the moments in my own ways. I should do a "bassy" hub with them. (smiling)

Hugs and thank you so much for the music and sharing of these moments. The music fits so perfectly, perhaps I will have to add it to the hub!!!!! wow.

Nellieanna, I have never come across a person like. The thoughts and feeling you display in your perfectly worded poems. Incredible! I have read many poems and most of them are good but you are outstanding. You have a complete different way of seeing things and being able to express them in your absolute excellent poem. Thank you for so much for knowing you and reading such wonderful pieces.

Nellieanna, your words here are all just words, but the arrangement of them is all you, and awesomely beautifully done. A style to admire, and I do. Perhaps one day I'll take you by the hand and you can lead me on a slow walk and describe what it is you see along the path as if I were blind. How cool I find, that would be.

Many Blessings and much Love befall you,

Hello, hello - - We're each unique, dear friend, -No one else is exactly like any one of us. It's what makes being a human such fun most of the time! Never a dull moment!

Maybe being in touch with my feelings and thoughts and having needed to express myself in writing more than out loud during major times of my life makes me more transparent. ;-> But each of us really does have our own different perspective of things. I admire many others and their writing styles and viewpoints - all so unique. I'm just happy that mine are ok and 'speak' to other kindred spirits like YOU! Thank you for liking mine and for telling me so in such a lovely way. Hugs.

Dusty - yeah - you describe it well. They're just words - - symbols of the things or ideas they try to represent. To do that, it does matter how they're strung together, I think - and usually, the simpler, the better, though I've been known to wax verbose and ponderous in prose. Right brain/left brain at work, probably. hehe

Now just let me know when that day arrives and we'll stroll and talk up a storm! We can take turns leading and being the blind one. What a great idea!

Hugs and love- and more abundant health, my friend.

Nellieanna, your reflections are simply masterpieces and glow and reflect images of beauty as always. I can see the mix of colors, pastels, oils, watercolors blending together in unison, exploding like stars in our universe. I am delighted to be back and to read your latest first before I proceed to the ones I've missed. You are my Emily and my poetess supreme. Hugs from me to you. Be blessed.

This is pure magic to me. I felt the flow of streams around me, yet very still... the flow of time always present in a hurry of some kind. As you somehow mixed both, the still mirror of a pond reflect time going by... no hurry though, time enjoying every second of its reflection.

Might not be what was intended, yet it is the way I perceived. There is such peace in these poems.

Thank you for a beautiful read. ^_^

Oh, thank you, Claire! I'm truly pleased and your perception fits into the various imagery and inspiration of this poetry as I wrote it. I never have written with intention to be perceived, but it is always a thrill to be!

Thank you for that.

Leslie - I wasn't aware of Debbie's amazing tribute till she posted the link on one of my hub's comment thread, along with her comments on the hub. She's been keeping me busy responding to her lovely comments, even pulling out some of my early hubs. It's just lovely. I'm so humbled.

And YOU - you're such an uplift! Don't worry - - you'll be a house afire as long as you live! Thank you.
