Reaching for the Most Distant Star....

Darkness fills the sky in the early mornings
hard cold as I look up at the stars
The cold fills my clothing ... Two below zero
as I clean the snow from her car

Once I thought ......I dreamt of roping
a star in the distance
Now it's only the beauty of a universe
the dreams met some resistance

But the stars still hold there essence
Never changing ...never darkening
And blue is the moon finishing the night
amid mornings harkening

The winds pick up in the pines on
the pastures edge
Maybe all I needs to reinvent my dream
take some new pledge

Dust off the stars .......if you will....
for age is creeping up on me
The drive once strong ...now lost......
though I think the stars can see

For you .....all of you.... hitch your dreams
to mine ...we'll see what we can do
There's a lot of hope left among us......
maybe I can tie my self to you

Absolutely brilliant! I loved this part:

"Once I thought ......I dreamt of roping

a star in the distance

Now it's only the beauty of a universe

the dreams met some resistance"

what lovely imagery! Thank you for sharing

Oh my , Pachuca , thank you , I get carried away when I see the stars and moon in the dark. I hope when I die no one can ever read or autopsy my thoughts !They will come to know I'm a little off. LOL.

All great poets are a little off center, if we were not how much fun would that be?:0) I love to stare starry eyed from time to time on a clear night, there is so much peace looking beyond oneself and capturing a moment, a shooting star a brightly lit moon and the vastness of it all. I liked this poem, very nicely done.

My Dear Cheyenne , I , as a child, thought that the only sure and steady thing in this world was the night sky . The magic , the quiet . Do we all gaze upon this silently at once?. Thats a nice thought. Thank you .
