Relaxing At Home
Genuine Peace
With the world just outside my window
I have so many places I want to see and go
Even though I have traveled and had so much fun
When I come home it is the happiest place I can be
My simple familiar surroundings give me the most comfort
A quick trip to the refrigerator grabbing an apple or a piece of celery
Makes my day
Opening the windows and doors and letting a breeze rush through
Spreading fresh air and an unclaimed energy left floating
Where we have quiet and calmness
Away from the day to day hustle
The same sun rises and sets
All the traffic and noise pollution is left far away
My favorite chair calls my name
Where I can sit and write for hours without skipping a beat
The common sounds are also pleasing to my ears
The humming motor of my refrigerator and even the odd chirp of a smoke alarm
I can't seem to fix
The bright light in my kitchen
If duplicated around the world
Could shed new light on everyone and every thing
My cat Charlette sound asleep on the couch
Her body half way between two cushions
Slipping slowly into the open space
The silent stove clock that glows the time
Patiently and faithfully working effortlessly
Old reliable has performed it's duties well
Back at the ranch our day goes as usual
When I am tired I can't wait to crawl into
My ice cold clean sheets
I think everyone should be so lucky
