Restless..... the many moods of man.

In the grey of november skies I listened to the
wild geese cry and came to know
myself by sound

The bitter winds of the wolf moon
January's always the same
when no one's else's around

And on the dance floors of my youth
I had no courage for the
asking and sat alone

But in the house of my youth
there was no reason what so ever in
staying home

Now it all leans to one side like the schooner
in the gale..... pulling in the sails
let the wind have her way

I know some have never spoken the language
of solitude......nor listened
to what my silence might say

Great thoughts here..I find in the silence is where the greatest answers to life's questions are hidden..if I just quit talking long enough to listen..:)

Thanks for sharing another great write.

Silence and quiet, fierce emotion tell much about a person. We really do fail to notice and read the heart, we are so about words, words, words. Actually I suppose I am also because I love the ones you wrote. Many beautiful wordpaint the personality and life of a man.

Regards Hyph.

Hyphenbird, Hah , the contradictions of the poet, you are so perceptive , to tell you the truth , when I am around people a little too much , All the voices actually tire me! I think sometimes it's all just nervous energy! But yes, look how we write and write and write.....:-} Thanks for sharing our "voice"...:-}

There is much to be said for silence...(don't laugh, it came from a speech by Harlan Ellison, and I think he was serious at the time, though I'm not..totally...sure!)

You are one wonderful poet, you have such a way of making me feel so calm and serene with your words.

Paradise , I like that saying , never heard it though! There is no more comfortable place perhaps. I'm glad you brought that up , I was always accused of being the strong silent type , so unpopular now it seems. Why does the American culture push the blathering idiot image so?......:-}

What a gifted poet you are. Reading each of your poems transports me into a world of a quiet man's reflections on his world and its deepest messages. . . It's incredibly real.

oops - my comment was posted twice. I didn't see it at first, so I placed it again. It must mean it's twice as applicable!

Always Exploring , I think as much a woman deals wth anxiety , mman deals with restless? What do you think?, you strike me as enlightened......:-}

I think a woman and a man can both be restless and have anxiety. I believe when there is complete contment between a woman and a man the restlessness and anxiety subside, but if the feelings begin to wane. the man is more prone to restlessness, thus, the woman becomes anxious. That old cliche, ' Silence is Golden ' is not always true. Being able to talk, discuss anything with your Significant other is The key that unlocks a silent door. Just my thoughts.

Always Exploding , haha , I had to do that ! sorry. I believe you are right . It is an extremely lucky pair that feed and nurture each others presense. Why , so often do we see that pulling apart? Sad!...:-}
