Risk Free

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

Risk free the choices we make,

so all remains snug and warm,

not a tremble nor a wisp of air mistake,

and we into the immovable same are born.

Pain free the experiences we accept,

so tears are held at bay,

not a heart stirred, empathy bereft,

we the hard cold stone display.

Sight free the reality we neglect,

so beliefs are upheld and justified,

not a truth revealed, in denial subject,

the beauty of life to mystify.

Life free is our complacent end,

when we hide from our tender heart,

without surrender to the truth and mend,

we are lost right from the start.

Vulnerable we will always be,

open to all manner of pain,

but without our unfurling soul and eyes to see,

we can never appreciate rain.

In the cleansing rains of passing storms,

we imbibe our greatest teachings,

from pain to joy in a turn of thought,

our choices and hearts no misgivings.

It's so easy to withdraw and fly under the radar, but we end up becoming numb to all the joy and experience of life. Thanks FR.

Thanks Wayne. Being open is often painful, but as you said at what cost. Life is definitely for living.

I spent about ten years in that mindset not trusting anyone; not wanting to ever be hurt again. If we keep the door closed too long, life simply walks away and never comes to our door again. Not much of a way to live. Nice work and great verse. ~WB

I had about ten years of that at a point in life...never trusting, never-ever wanting to be hurt again. One can only keep the door closed so long before the beauty of life walks away never to return again. Great verse...nice work! ~WB

Very beautiful and thought-provoking. If we never take chances in this life, are we really living or just existing, even if it means we will feel pain or hurt.

Voted up ++++ and sharing

God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper

Very truly said.....

'......Life free is our complacent end,

without surrender to the truth and mend,

So much with depth and the reality. Enjoyed reading this one......and I even feel that we are lost right from the beginning.
