Risk free the choices we make,
so all remains snug and warm,
not a tremble nor a wisp of air mistake,
and we into the immovable same are born.
Pain free the experiences we accept,
so tears are held at bay,
not a heart stirred, empathy bereft,
we the hard cold stone display.
Sight free the reality we neglect,
so beliefs are upheld and justified,
not a truth revealed, in denial subject,
the beauty of life to mystify.
Life free is our complacent end,
when we hide from our tender heart,
without surrender to the truth and mend,
we are lost right from the start.
Vulnerable we will always be,
open to all manner of pain,
but without our unfurling soul and eyes to see,
we can never appreciate rain.
In the cleansing rains of passing storms,
we imbibe our greatest teachings,
from pain to joy in a turn of thought,
our choices and hearts no misgivings.
