Rony will give same advice to his son
Rony was pleased as punch when he received an Alarm Clock from his father as a present on his birthday. He was then five years old. He learnt from his father how to set the alarm and he enjoyed hearing the sound of the bells as they rang.
His father, Mr. Brown was a dear good soul and very friendly. If it was a rainy day and Rony couldn’t go out to play with his friends he would play games with him at home, tell him stories and on Sundays if the weather was nice, he and his wife would take Rony out for a long drive or take him out in the woods for a walk and if Rony was tired he would pick him up on his back or on his shoulder.
But he made no compromises in so far as Rony's time for getting up from bed was concerned.
One day he advised his son “I have kept the alarm clock in your room on the bedside table, I have set the alarm and you must get up from bed at 5AM from tomorrow, O.K.?”
“ But dad, tomorrow is Sunday, Can’t I stay in bed for a few hours more?”
“No my dear, you can't. Instead you can go to bed a bit early.”
“But dad what shall I do getting up at 5A.M.?”
“Well, there are so many things you can do my dear. Go out to the open, breathe in fresh air, enjoy the beauty of the nature, see the rising sun, see the dew drops on flowers , go to the playground, run , come home, relax, study. There is no end as to what you can do if you wake up early.”
“But dad, you know John, my friend who came here yesterday, he wakes up at 8AM.”
“Well you don’t need to follow him.”
“ Dad he is so fat, is it because he stays in bed for long hours?”
“Yes it could be, . You see, if you stay in bed for long hours you become a lazy boy, your stomach gets affected, you become irritated, you cannot concentrate in your studies and it does so much damage to your mind and body.”
“Dad, you are right, you know most of the days he gets told off by our teachers as he doesn’t do all the homework properly.”
“Well there you are, you can now see the bad effects, can’t you? Remember, most of the people who have done well in life are early risers. If you wake up early everyday, you will get into this habit and you will remain active all day. Look at the birds, they are so tiny but so active.”
Rony laughed as he watched a sparrow sitting on the window and then flew away.
Mr. Brown smiled and said “What about your little puppy, Tom, doesn’t he wake up early?”
Rony smiled and said “Yes he does, when I wake up I always find him in sitting or in standing position.”
“But you know Lulu, the kitten next door, she wakes up quite late.”
“Well, they are very lazy and they always like comforts. Anyway, forget about kittens, you will have to wake up at 5AM, always remember that.”
Rony’s mother came. She smiled, kissed Rony and said “You will do as your father said, won’t you my sweety ?”
Rony smiled and said “Yes.”
Next morning the bell of the alarm clock rang at 5AM. Rony woke up but wanted to stay in bed.
His father came.
“Good morning dad, can I leave bed at 5AM from tomorrow?”
“Good morning my dear. No you must leave your bed now. It’s only the lazy people who procastinate things for tomorrow. You don't want to be a lazy boy, do you? Come on, get up.”
Rony smiled and jumped up from bed, he went to the play ground near the house, ran there for a while with his Puppy running after him, came back home and went to the garden, helped his mother to water the plants and also assisted his father in keeping the garden tidy. Then he came near his mother, asked her a lot of questions about the flowers and plants and she enjoyed every minute of it in answering. Then he ran to his father, put all the weeds in a bucket and dumped them at far end of the garden, Tom followed Rony wagging his tail and running around the garden.
And Lulu from next door came in the garden too.
“Look dad, Lulu is also here!”
“That’s nice, probably she has realized that it is so important to breathe in fresh air early in early morning.”
Rony laughed and played with the puppy and the kitten and later returned home, had a wash and sat at the dinner table for breakfast.
As they were having breakfast Mr. Brown asked Rony “Now tell me frankly, do you wish you rather had stayed in bed?”
“ No dad, of course not. I promise I shall get up everyday at 5AM.”
His mother patted his back and said “Good boy, we love you.”
“Dad, I feel great, I would like to study now, can I bring my books here and study?”
‘Of course you can my dear” Mr, Brown said with a smile on his face.
Rony went to his room, brought some books and sat at the dinner table to study.
Mr. Brown sat next to him with the newspaper and told him “That’s nice, learn all your lessons well, if you can’t follow anything ask us, we are here to help you.”
Rony got used to getting up from bed at 5AM in no time. Years have gone past, he is a qualified Engineer now and well established in life. His parents have expired a few years back. Rony looks at his parent’s photos on the wall, his eyes get filled in tears as he fondly remembers them and the wonderful childhood he had, the friendly atmosphere in the house and all the good pieces of advice he received from his parents. He was sure that his parents were watching him from heaven and they were pleased to see him maintaining all the good habits.
Rony’s wife comes and sits beside him. She asks her husband whether he would also like his son to get up from bed everyday at 5AM. Rony smiles, kisses his son who is fast asleep, and says “Well he is only 2 years old now, let him grow up a bit and yes 5AM will be his time to get up from bed and that’s for sure and this table clock will rest on his bedside table too.”
“Wouldn’t you change the alarm clock for a new one?”
“No, there is no need. it is still working fine and it has so much sentimental value my dear."
“Yes Of course. By the way, do I have to get up at 5AM too?”
“Of course my dear, you are an early riser anyway and you must maintain this good habit. We, parents, must set examples before our children and that’s very important.”
Mrs. Brown kisses her husband, smiles and says “Quite rightly so.”

It was night, I thought of writing a poem, comfortably sat on a chair, Be it a love poem, a poem of fun or sorrow - I didn't really care. Many themes had entered my head, It would be so easy to write! ...
I have intended to bring some fun in this poem. What I am basicvally trying to convey is that we should sing, laugh and dance to keep ourselves fit and well and enjoy our life to the best we can.
