Rusted Swords and Broken Steeds.......

Kneeling at the edge of burial grounds even
the stallion bows down
The warrior kneels for far too long in silence
and still no one comes around

Part of that is why he's here and part
is why he's dying
He's given up ...he's given in
no longer even trying

He raises his bible to the heavens
swears to God in whispers softened
His clothes in tethers once a shinning
knight....beaten down so often

Better for the warriors of God to be
fighting in wars of honored attrition's
Once the sons of sons take over
to selfishly tear at old incisions

The soldiers Father said as much
why fight for those who forget the cost
They will never honor the forgotten
warrior ......or all his worthy loss

Burning the flags .....tearing the bibles
selfishness evolves inwards
The children no longer pray in school
nor know the cost of sinners

Over and over he asks himself ... why.......
what fruit on the vine so rotten
Oh.... my friend hero son
they have only just forgotton

Benjamin Frankin said it best ......" I am a warrior so that my son can be a farmer so that his son can be an artist"........And I .....I wonder what exists in the minds beyond the artist , the liberal? The pacifist ? The ungreatfull ....the ungodly?

I fear we see this happening today. There is a movement afoot to return America to her ideals and foundation...and this trickles down to the individual. It is an unfortunate and sorrowful situation; that, it appears, the more honorable respectful acts/decisions/edicts and laws which were created/fought for and regarded highly and as something to strive for, have all been forgotten. Certainly, these standards have been ignored, dismissed; even insulted. It is commonplace these days, to disregard the good works of the past; to act as if we have no history, no fabric which makes up this society. I've no doubt this apathy and denigration of heritage is world wide. What an incredible piece you've written, ahorseback Truly amazing. Beautiful Awesome useful and UP

Lucky Cats, you are awesome and right on , I have been on the forums lately arguing against anti- Christian posts , there is soo much of that . And not like I'm a practicing Church goer , but I feel our culture is in decline and thats why I penned this today. Breaks my heart to see our freedoms flaunted and abused......thank you for being here......:-}

ahorseback - goodness. I loved reading this, and salute you for your viewpoint, as well as the superb way you've put it together.

It surely rings true that the vine is not producing the same caliber of fruit it once did, and such a shame, because the gardens were once upon a time, so lovingly tended.

FemmeFlashpoint,Well thank you , and thats it isn't it ..." tend your gardens". Great point. When I listen to our situation today in media and in human behavior ,as in political speak. I can only shake my head. But thats it , I will tend my garden ! ...:-}

Things will never be as they once were in a time when "your word" meant something and fighting for your country wasnt about greed and prosperity but for freedom of the just and righteous , those days are sadly gone my friend , this was beautiful and i voted up , awesome and beautiful , just because it is! :)
