SELLING THE b. malin

I know, I know, I've been away for a LONG, LONG, time, 2 months to be exact. We finished the Condo with the view down in Florida land...Then caught the "Flu", and were laid up in bed for a Month, or was it Two? We Tearfully said good-by, as we bid our Neighbors adieu, and drove back to New Jersey to sell the house. Should be a "piece of cake" we assured one another, after all we've sold a few homes in our married life...And so let the "Sale" begin.

We found a Great Realtor, who listed the house looking all Shiny and New in his advertising. The pictures that his Photographer took were Fabulous, simply Fabulous. Neighbors came by to give their opinions. "You'll sell quickly, the house looks Beautiful inside and out". It really did, because the front of our house is Brick, and so we'd brought some RED Mulch for landscaping, and the Roses and all, were starting to bloom. One neighbor even brought a friend by, and then asked to use the hall Bathroom! My oh My! And, I might add, a Realtor was coming by in 10 minutes with a "Prospective Buyer". But we smiled at the neighbor and said "SURE, GO AHEAD", as we prayed he was only going to URINATE!

So we've had an "Open House" for the Realtors to see, although it seems like our Realtor wants to keep everything "In House" for his Agents. However, over the Memorial weekend, with weather that seemed like early March...COLD and Rainy, Realtors and Prospective Buyers, were making appointments to come by. Alas, on Sunday and Monday, the Sun was Shinning brightly...but still a bit cold. There seems to be some interest, but we won't know anything untill at least Thursday or Friday, due to the 3 day "Rescission" period for the Buyer.

So while we play the waiting game and hope...I am out there covering the Red mulch that "Nutsy" the squirrel is digging holes in to bury his Treasures. He actually has the nerve to stand in the driveway, little hands on his hips, as he watches me. He comes back when he thinks I'm not looking (but I am looking from the living room windows) to make sure I haven't taken any of his "Treasures"!

We are Hopeful, the house will Sell in a Timely Fashion... but just to make sure we've covered all our bases...I've dusted off "St. Joe" given him a kiss, and asked for his help once again, to "Sell This House"! Hey, he's helped this little "Jewish Girl" in the past... he has NO BOUNDARIES...And I also whispered to him, he gets to move to Florida with us.

Dearest b. Malin,

It sure has been way too long, and you have been missed!!!

This was an enjoyalbe read, especially with your added clever humor here.

I know that poor "St. Joe" has been so lonely without you and looking forward to moving very soon!

I truly hope that your home sells quickly and you can get back to that beautiful view and enjoy the rest of your lives in paradise.

Voted up across the board.

Good luck on selling your house. I know you want to get back down to Florida. Since your house made it through Sandy well, it will probably look really good to those whose houses didn't. Your humor is great on this, I would be going nuts.

I think you have been quite busy! No wonder that you had no time for hubpages! It's always a stressful time to sell a home! I wish you the best of luck! Florida will be just wonderful.... especially during the winter :-)

I think that "St. Joe" should be quite motivated to move to Florida as well ;-)

Hi Barb;

I’m so glad you and hubby have recovered from the flu. Selling a house can be daunting task in today’s market, but I’m sure you’ll both do fine. As usual, your writing is such a delight; so funny and warm and real. :-)

I just love this one:

“So while we play the waiting game and hope...I am out there covering the Red mulch that "Nutsy" the squirrel is digging holes in to bury his Treasures. He actually has the nerve to stand in the driveway, little hands on his hips, as he watches me.”

We have a chubby rabbit that reminds me of your “Nusty.” We want to plant vegetables this year, but it’s been so darned cold (just above freezing overnight), we’ve been waiting for Mother Nature to put away the Tequila and do her thing in a sober frame of mind – so to speak. Of course, we now have Chubs to deal with. (I shouldn’t complain when I look at the storms wreaking havoc elsewhere in the country.)

Anywho, glad to see you're back! :-)

Hi b.malin.

Would you believe it I just found this hub as my estate agent was showing clients around my villa which is also for sale, I am taking this as a sign that things are going my way with this viewing :)

Thank goodness that today although the wind is a little chilly the sun´s shining brightly and it´s warm out of the wind because most of my other interested parties have arrived to howling gales or torrential rains , not the norm here at all and bad luck for me when I am trying desperately to sell up in the midst of a recession.

I smiled also when I read of your squirrel digging up the shingle, I was out early this morning raking up chewed up pine cones which my squirrels had dropped all over my shingle.

I wish you the very best of luck finding a buyer and also that you get your asking price.

Perfect read for me...we've just listed ours and hoping to have it sold ASAP. Not a joke to showcase a property, lots of dusting, packing and cleaning and that's when you realized, "less is more", indeed. I'm more likely to have very less time here on HP from now on until the house is sold and we've moved in to the new place but I'll surely be peeking once in a while. Now, I go back to packing old stuff, so I could drop them at the nearest goodwill store before the rain falls....goodluck to you. :)
