A MESSAGE FOR MY MOTHER by b. Malin

HEY LADY OF WIT, IN SEPTEMBER OF 1982 YOU DIED, AND THE CHILDREN CRIED. THE WORLD HAD LOST A GREAT LADY WHEN YOU LEFT THIS EARTH....TO BECOME AN ANGEL WHO WOULD WATCH OVER US....ESPECIALLY ME.

HEY LADY OF WIT, I DIDN'T WANT TO LET YOU GO....BUT YOU LEFT ANYWAY. THE DOCTOR AT THE HOSPITAL DESCRIBED HOW YOU LAID YOUR HEAD BACK, CLOSED YOUR EYES, AND TOLD HIM YOU WERE GOING TO REST FOR AWHILE.

HEY LADY OF WIT, YOU LIED, YOU DIED INSTEAD....PEACEFULLY AND QUIETLY I MIGHT ADD. NOT A SOUND COULD BE HEARD....EXCEPT FOR MY LOUD CRIES WHEN I WAS GIVEN THE NEWS....AND THEN I WAS LEFT TO SPREAD THE NEWS.

HEY LADY OF WIT, AT FIRST I COULD NOT FORGIVE YOU....BUT IN THE END I DID. BUT I HAVE NEVER STOPPED MISSING YOU....OR LOVING YOU.

HEY LADY OF WIT, THOUGH THE YEARS HAVE COME AND GONE, I'VE ALWAYS FELT THAT YOU WERE NEAR...TO GUIDE ME THROUGH ANOTHER DAY. TO SEE THE KIDS GROW, AND HAVE FAMILIES OF THEIR OWN.

HEY LADY OF WIT, YOU MISSED A LOT....BUT I'D LIKE TO THINK NOT....I PICTURE YOU LOOKING DOWN AND SMILING ON ALL OF US. I KNOW YOU SOMETIMES HAD TO SHED A TEAR, WHEN YOU SAW THE SADNESS YOUR OTHER DAUGHTER HAD TO BARE....AND YOU COULD NOT BE THERE TO HOLD HER HAND. BUT YOU KEPT THIS DAUGHTER STRONG, AND I WAS ABLE TO BE THERE FOR HER. THANK YOU.

HEY LADY OF WIT, THANKS FOR BEING MY MOTHER, MY FRIEND, AND GRANDMOTHER TO MY SONS. I KNOW ONE DAY WE WILL MEET AGAIN, BUT UNTIL THAT TIME....I DOUBT THAT I WILL EVER OUT GROW THE NEED TO TALK TO YOU.

Beautiful...I miss her dearly as well. Can still see that smile and hear her laughter. Such a great big heart full of love for her family.

..well my mum was my best friend (as was my dad) so I find this wonderful poetic piece very pure and heartwarming!!!!

I also enjoy your philosophical hubs and your thoughts of the day - please return to writing some new ones if you can - I love your recent short stories - but it's so obvious as I explore your back catalogue that you can write anything .....and I'll be there - when you do!!!

Actually epigramman, I'm working on a "fun" Poem at the moment. Thanks for reading this one as well and your wonderful comments on your Mum!
