Aftermath Of An EF3 Tornado
The Aftermath
After The Tornadoes

This was written the day after an EF 3 tornado hit just a quarter mile from my home. Although this was not the scene from my window, it was the view from someone's window...
I’m looking out my window
Can’t believe what I see
An upside washing machine
A roof in the street
All around is dust and debris
Leaves and branches all around
Insulation and boards and stuff
All littering the ground
I see people walking around
Death warmed over, in shock
I can’t believe how much has changed
Since last evening at ten o’clock
Neighborhoods no longer here
Big businesses wiped away
A whole city changed forever
And it’s only been a day
I see a woman looking
Across the street to a lot
Where her house stood yesterday
A bag of clothes is all she’s got
I see a dog run by
Dragging his leash behind
A man helping another one
Just trying to do something kind
I pull my head back in the window
Look to my left and my right
Everything in my home is undamaged
We made it safely through the night
