Seeing is Not Believing

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

Even sight is an illusion,

perceptions rendering truth based on bias,

formed from experience, conditioning and belief,

the substance of truth never definitive.

So why is it we cling so tightly to our beliefs,

when our investment can be based on no more than a shot in the dark,

the fragments of our paradigms forever in flux,

and we, so sure of our warranted commitment.

No-one can convince anyone of anything not within their thinking,

in other words, if you don't think something is possible,

then no amount of proof will convince you,

you will simply not see it, not feel it nor recognize it.

Belief is a powerful commodity,

and also the most direct path to delusion,

because once we determine a truth, all else becomes superfluous,

all other truths overlooked completely.

What 'is', truth if you will, can never be grasped entirely,

because our perceptions of it change with our life experience,

truth an evolving, ever expanding reality,

that can never be finite.

Being open-minded is all that we can be in life,

because we are in a constant state of learning,

experience our teacher,

and whether we see something or not, there is always more to understand.

Truth evolves as per our perceptions of it.

Very good Wayne, a great analogy. The human brain is a minefield of traps and illusions, all of which are perceived differently by each one of us. Truth is an interesting concept?

I am reminded of an old 'Star Trek' episode in which to confuse their captors, Kirk told them that everything Spock says, is a lie. And Spock responded by saying, and that is the truth!

Experience is the greatest teacher in life and self esteem helps us each to make new progress. Nice work my friend, whonu.

Thanks Martin; yes I think human beings in general are adept at improvising with truth. Take care my friend.

Well said, my friend. My oil company were masters at redesigning the truth.
