An Angel Needed Elsewhere

"Needed elsewhere...
to remind us of the

shortness of our time.

Tears laid for them
Tears of love, tears of fear.

Bury my dreams, dig up my sorrows.

Oh, Lord why

the angels fall first."

"Angels Fall First" ~ Nightwish

Somewhere between my dreams and sleep

I have heard your whispers keep.

I could feel you with my soul

entrenched in moments crying stole.

When rising dawn in midst of night

you stood before me, gloriously bright.

Woke me with a thunderous roar

Unfurling wings tattered by war.

Your drowsy wind shook my trees

Unveiling scars from centuries.

Your eyes like jewels, black and wet.

Soaked with memories you could not forget.

You raised your head and on your throat

In feathers white your fatal rote,

A harp string which you did devise to

choke out years of unheard cries.

Oh , but yours.

Never to share a glass of wine

Nor writhing of a lover’s spine.

Or thunderous clapping of the flesh

and breaking waters on the thresh.

My mouth falls open to call to you

But only moon drops silver spew.

A touch would tinge this hallowed slave

And send you to a fiery grave.

If not for Holy tasks demain

I’d be in your light infused again.

In the next life you will find my door.

For you are needed elsewhere more.

A slight change of pace for you- and one I like very much Tammy. As a matter of fact if I didn't know any better I'd say you experienced this. I have a friend who saw three beautiful angels traverse his room as a small boy, and in consequence became a righteous man his whole life, which is 83 now. A pleasure to vote up and awe and interest.

tammyswallow profile image

tammyswallow 4 years ago from North Carolina Author

I haven't experienced this in real life, but I have in dreams. I have very vivid dreams- unfortunatey on both sides of the spectrum. I would be interested in learning about dream analysis. Interesting friend! He is very fortunate to see what he has seen. Thanks so much for reading and leaving a thoughtful comment.

Alastar Packer profile image

Alastar Packer 4 years ago from North Carolina

Dream analysis is something I'd like to know more about too. We also share the vivid dreams. Wish yours weren't on the negative side so, Tammy my friend. You know, with things like the quantum sciences, string theory and the zero-point field, etc. I'm starting to wonder if dreams have more of a connection somewhere else besides just being constructed in the subconscious. Oh well, at any rate it's intriguing and kinda fun to ponder on certain other possibilities.

tammyswallow profile image

tammyswallow 4 years ago from North Carolina Author

Thanks Alastar. I have been a vivid dreamer since I can remember. They aren't all dark but when they are it takes days to shake. They are strange, sometimes scary, sometimes beautiful. I wouldn't change being a vivid dreamer but I would certainly like to learn more about the things you listed. I am covinced there is something to them.

Tammy, voted this up, awesome, and interesting. I really enjoyed this poem, although it has a dark nature. I am one that believes that our dreams do have meaning. As I aged, I remember dreams less. You may have a special gift. It would be worth looking into dream interpertation.

tammyswallow profile image

tammyswallow 4 years ago from North Carolina Author

Awesome lyricwriter! I am definatley going to look into dream interpretation. I think there is much beyond the basic symbols found in dream books. Thanks so much for reading this poem.

This is SO beautifully composed, Tammy. We never have to forget to include our 'spirit' angels in our daily activities and to talk to them. They show up in our dreams to whisper when comes the need that we have to be reminded of them. Hopefully and elsewhere beyond the end of our earthly life that our angel will carry us through. And how lovely this poem is together with your choice of images. I'll be sharing this poem, thank you.

p.s. Sexy angels!

why did the Angels fall first? such a sad song...beautifully written...

tammyswallow profile image

Hi Raciniwa! I think the whole song goes back to Milton's Paradise Lost when Satan and others used to be angels that fell from heaven because they wanted to over throw God. Thanks so much for stopping by!
