Serenaded In June

Poem Two:

Her very name,

without shame,

brought a rush of pleasure to me,

my soul once a victim, now free,

and my heart sent,

and my emotions spent,

I wonder if she could understand

what it meant,

as love makes a powerful demand,

her presence fills me with happiness,

my face would glow,

emotions would grow,

and it would show,

happiness is something I thought

I could never come to know,

then she sits, I sit,

I am not so much in love with happiness,

I’m in love with her,

and she makes me feel it,

happiness, love.

Poem One:

Everything was just fine,

the day had so much worth,

a dockhand cast the line,

and the Bridgeport Ferry

pulled away from its berth,

foaming the water with its propellers,

troubles were bent,

feelings sent,

as the sun had begun

its incendiary descent

against the city’s skyline,

it was during the most perfect time,

igniting it in flamboyant amber,

as a shadow was betting on romance

like a gambler,

rose petals they kept tossing,

as they enjoyed the crossing

into Port Jefferson,

it was a quick-cross cruise,

to set the mood,

good company, good food,

a day without a worry or a care,

as a soulful instrumental tune

filled the sea air,

they were serenaded in June,

wish we were there.

I really admire your poetic pattern, choice of expression and strong imagery you evoke.

Your poem tells a story in a pattern that is unusual, yet engrossing. I suggest you add more pictures that detail the events your poem portrays. This may give more depth to your beautiful setting. Please read some of my works.

Very beautiful poem. I really like the meter and rhyme in this one as well as the emotion poured out of it.

I am not so much in love with happiness,

I’m in love with her,

Love this part, of course I'm kind of a sappy romantic though. Voted up and beautiful.
