Shadows of Frost

I used to believe it all
Until I left it all alone
Then sleeping peacefully
In the shadows of frost
I was given a dead man's command
And told to carry it out should he fail
So now I have the ball

Some say the world shall end in fire
Some want the world to end with ice
From the hollows of faceless desires
It is clear that fire could well suffice
But as I know all too well
The dead give no pause

In silence it occurs to me
That if the world should end twice
Then fire for destruction is great and rarely fails
Yet the powers of ice are soon to be reckoned
For Winter's king shall drive the Devil's nails
Into the heart of the ghouls who roll their dice
To decide whose fate dangles by fagile seconds
Leading men forth on darkling plains by twilight
Where only men and beasts fight on common sides

There in the footprints of dragons
The queen bees lay their lives down for the hives
And the last remnants of these times, this culture
Shall be swept up and die into extinction
Welcome to the ice age

fire and ice, both can be cruel and deadly, and uncaring of the human nature, they can be what saves us or they can be what destroys us. if fire is the end, dump some water on it and if ice, light it on fire!
