Shake it Off- Prose Poetry

Sometimes things don't end up how we imagined they should.

Shake it off,

Let it go,

Don’t hold onto the past,

Of what it was before.

One more time,

You shake the cage again,

I can’t let go of what it is I now regret.

Empty emotions,

That play a game,

This isn’t what it should be,

It shouldn’t be this way.

Found out now,

There is more,

Wish I knew it sooner,

Before I fell to the floor.

My world hurts,

It crumbles down,

I keep a smile,

Afraid to let it all out.

Make a chance to learn how to smile again.

One girl, who lived in two worlds

Give up the regret for the things that can't be changed.

As I am crawling- I find my way to my knees.

It can't make sense to those who don't know

Rude little comments,

Made to make me laugh,

Make me hate a world,

I wish I had left.

Dream of change,

Dream of life,

Breathe in a poison,

Let go of time.

Two sides of reality,

One most don’t know.

I swim in a whirl pool,

Afraid of what I don’t know.

Shake it off,

Let it out,

Let out a cry,

Let go of the regret.

Does it make sense,

To those that don’t know?

There is no smile,

Left at the end of this road.

I shouldn’t even care,

I shouldn’t even cry,

No one is even listening,

To what it is I hold inside.

I hid a little secret,

I hid my life,

Now I am born,

One more chance- One last time.

Thank you Bill for your comment. Writers block has certainly been a kick in the butt for me. I am hoping that the words will start to flow more easily again.

You and I have been through writers block . It kept me depressed for a while then I gave that up. This is why I started writing poems because I would start a children's and no words would around page three. I have a feeling that my writers mind is coming back because hubbers wanted more of The Dare story and then surprise happened I wrote almost for pages, that's first in quite a while.

voted up and beautiful, Joyce.

Lovely poem about letting go. The words flow, and wrap around the heart...like a vine...but the vine is one of new life, of promise.

This has such a nice flow to it. Yes, do, take one more chance. Looking forward, outrun the past. No time to look over your shoulder.

writer20- thanks for stopping by and reading the poem... I know exactly what you mean- I hate not being able to concentrate and get words out... Writing has always been a release for me, but when writers block hits- it stresses me out.

Seafarer Mama- thank you for your kind comment, I am glad that you liked the poem. This was the first one I have written lately that was not forced, so I am happy that it reads well.

mckbirdbks- thank you- I am glad that you think so. I was worried a little bit. Publishing this one kind of carried with it the same anticipation and hesitation that publishing my first hub carried with it. :)

ahorseback,

I will :) I was somewhat nervous about posting this poem- I hate writers block, and I fear that mine was due to stress and a surplus of emotions, I hope I can get a grip of what is out of control in my world and come back to my old self and way of writing what it is that hurts and what causes joy.

H.C. I think the block thing just comes and goes , and I wonder all of the time about if the therapy of writing is a worthy cure for me . You , young lady are a awesome writer , dont forget , a hubber helps another hubber every day ! Be well H.C. And never stop trying !
