She goes to sleep dancing ....

Daddy will you read me a story .....one
of my new books ?
Here lie down beside me come on
don't give me those looks

And oh do I ever miss those days ....those
nights the young father so little he knew
That little angels grow up out and away
from a broken nest she flew

But fly she did and its never too late
for a daddy to learn
It aint so much the time as the choice
the bridges that we burn

I would die a thousand deaths for that girl
to have stayed just a girl
Or slay a thousand nightime dragons
I'd give that a whirl

Shes a big girl now ........she used to say
that girl just loved a unicorn
And the symbol of a curing nature it is
and in a nurses uniform

We sat on the roof one night to catch a glimpse
of a space traveling shuttle
Only then to go on inside and help
h
er with a puzzle

Today ah today that baby girl and
daddy are soulmates
If thats even possible .......pray to the lord
and my soul to takes

I Love you more than life Brandy........Daddy

Ed,

The title is beautiful and the poem delivers big time. I admire what you do so much.

I put one of my songs up called "Just A Daddy Thing". It's a much better song than it is a poem, but it's a tear jerker. Wrote it for Jamie, my oldest. I haven't done one for Katie yet, but I did write one about my grand baby who died (her daughter) for her. Here's a you tube link. The sound quality isn't very good and I had a little difficulty getting through it, but it is what it is ...

Keep up the great work bro~

Ed,

I'm an old local rock star wanna be from another time. Yes, actually I do have a friend with a rec studio up in Dallas and I've been working on the "Ready For The Storm" CD on and off for too long. Spent more money buying records than I ever made selling them . lol That song's recorded and sounds much better than that of course. Thanks a ton my friend.

It is possible for Daddy and Daughter to be soul mates. I believe it is one of God's designs. We forever need our fathers. Mine has been gone a long time now and I still grieve to feel his protective love. Thanks for a lovely poem even if it did brings tears to my eyes. They are appreciative ones.

This is absolutely beautiful. There is a special bond between fathers and their daughters. Brandy is a lucky girl to have a dad who can express his love in such a poetic way.

Tears, tears....I have tears! This is brutally sweet coming from a daddy-very admirable.

Brandy is such a lucky girl to have such a wonderful, courageous father like you to exquisitely express his love towards his daughter through this beautiful piece.

Love it, Ed! Up and sharing.

My eyes are burning here, must be the foggy afternoon...I too read each and every night to my only daughter, now 24, and think of those times so often. I have kept a box of those books in my closet for her.

Beautiful and touching poem. My nephew and his wife who live in Thailand (he teaches there) just had a baby girl two days ago, and he is in heaven being a Dad for the first time. I see a tenderness in my nephew that I have never seen before. I imagine him relating to poems like this one when his little angel grows up.

Voted up, beautiful and awesome!
