Shine on desert moon.....

Falling rock in the distance awakens
time mellowed imaginations
Pale cliffs of melting butter in the full
moon underlie well lit constellations

Lonely howls of the coyotes bounce away
to eternal bliss
"I feel the very same way"....... I say out loud
I feel just like this

The desert life ....timeless... doesn't allow
shallow self pity
Not so like the country boy dwelling
in the isolation of the city

But lately .... the need of solitude has a death grip
on my inner child
And yet I know it can never be tamed
by this desert wild

Maybe ...just maybe I'll stay right
here until I become just like this
This desert ...
this stone mountain....
this lonely howling night
and this eternally peaceful
desert bliss

"Pale cliffs of melting butter" is a great use of words, and "until I become just like this..." Thank you for writing this.

The dessert wild is a nice place to be though. You can become one with nature. This is beautiful Ahorseback.

You post a good argument for living in the desert. The wind, the animal life, the moon's light all make it a wonderful place for reflecting on life. The city, as you mention, doesn't quite allow you to stretch and does keep you isolated among so many people.

Moments like you described are timeless and rare. Lying on my back at 2am watching a meteor shower, in the desert as you said, alone on a winter night at the beach, makes me want to stay forever and become one with them. Your poem is lovely and your imagination boundless.
