Nicomedes Márquez Joaquín - 1917-2004  (Some of his popular works: May Day Eve, Pros and Poems, The Woman who had Two Navels,   A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino, Tropical Gothic (1972),  A Question of Heroes (1977),  Jeseph Estrada and Other Sketches (1977).

Paz Marquez Benitez - 1910-1944. (His short story book "How My Brother Leon Brought Home A Wife" won the first prize award for short stories in English in the first Commonwealth literary contest in 1940.
