Sleepy Head

Doing the Mountain Dew!!
Doing the Mountain Dew!! | Source

My eyes are getting sleepy

I want to go to bed

But right now

I am regretting what I said

***

I take a walk downstairs

Wondering what to do

I need to stay awake

So I grab a Mountain Dew

***

The caffeine fills my body

I hope it kicks in fast

Before the dream man gets me

And drops me on my ass

***

Tomorrow will be early

The day will start real soon

With as tired as I am

I wish I could sleep till noon

***

Do the Dew

Mountain Dew: The History
Mountain Dew: The History

We all know Mountain Dew is famous for the content of caffeine, but did you ever wonder if there was anything else to this soft drink? Worry no more - this 300 page book will give you insight to everything you wanted (and didn't want) to know about Mountain Dew!

Mountain Dew - 36/12 oz. cans

Now that I have you sporting the shirt, knowing the ins and outs of Moutain Dew, you are probably getting a little thirsty. Wouldn't hurt to stock up...

If you are craving something chocolaty and alcoholic, here is a poem about the effects of the Chocolate Martini. Recipe is included so you can really indulge in the experience!

Writing poetry is difficult and sometimes lonely, in fact it will often times fall off the radar. That is the inspiration behind Writing Poetry - The Loneliest Poem.

How can Happy be spelled without U combines two of my favorite things - love and poetry. So may I suggest we start saying Huppy instead of Happy!

But that just won’t happen

I have three kids to attend too

Staying up this late

I truly am the fool

***

But I really have no choice

I have to stay up this late

If I fall asleep right now

I will forget to pick up my mate

***

Tonight he works a late shift

He won’t be done till one

Unfortunately my body is tired

You could say I am over done

***

We have one car

And tonight I needed it

If not for that, I would be asleep

And no longer throwing this fit

***

So as I struggle

Trying not to fall asleep

I have 30 minutes left

But I am getting weak

***

So here I sit

Throwing together this here poem

Biding past the time

Until I need to leave home

***

You see I made a promise

That I have no choice but to keep

I must pick my husband up

And forgo my need to sleep!

I came for the Mountain Dew can

straight-up jones-ing and twitching

the lyrical late wait for your man

I found quite bewitching

Too funny - sorry but I've been there. Maybe you could try a red bull! Or a 5 hour energy drink and you could have stayed up and made breakfast! Lol

@Thought Sandwiches

Sitting in the Fridge

Were my last two cans of Dew

Thought Sandwhiches stopped by hub

Looking for something new

I drank one

Still sitting there half asleep

I went to drink the other can

But Thought Sandwhiches was a sneak

So now I must find something else

Cause I need my caffeine high

But I don't mind that he drank my soda

Cause he's a real cool guy! :)

@Lord - it worked out in the end. Writing this poem was just enough to keep me occupied. I hit publish right before I left and then as soon as we got home I crashed out. Of course, this morning came too fast. I had to get the kids off to school. I tried making there lunches and I swear I was moving real slow!!! But I got my coffee now - so I am feeling a little better! :)

@Weightlossguru - I would give you my other can of dew - but Thought Sandwhiches got here before you and drank it already! ;)

lol! So...last night...I was doing the trash/recycle thing for this morning when I realized my last Dew Cube was nothing but a memory. I chose to stand fast (we live kind of boony-ish) ...i was recently reading that water might be good for you...so...

Anyway...BOOM...I update Hubpages...and you are flaunting ALL kinds of Dew (two being ALL kinds apparently). How could I not steal? THAT would be a crime...(places a bottle of ephedrine on kitchen counter) ...I hear good things about these...I'll get back to you on the water part...

barbergirl28 profile image

barbergirl28 5 years ago from Hemet, Ca Author

I hear water is good for you too... especially when mixed with ephedriine. However, if you need an extra kick in the pants you could always just make yourself a Shrek Smoothie (grabs rather large bag and hands one to Thought Sandwhiches) However, I have an extra one on hand and it is startg to spill so I have one right here for you. Granted, it isn't the Dew and it isn't ephedrine but it is homemade and all naturalish! LOL

My favorite drink as a kid was Big Red. I think it may even have more caffiene in it than Mountain Dew. Imagine you'll get a great night's sleep tonight, and maybe your hubbie can even clean the dishes and put the kiddos to bed.

LOL funny stuff barbergirl, you're quite the busy lady!

(sluuurp) Finishing the --insert product placement here--Shrek Smoothie--mmmm...rinses and replaces the empty glass on the counter while looking around...the house is empty.

It's a nice place...I can sense residual butterfly-ness and all.

(pockets ephedrine bottle for return shipment to Canada)

...looks in fridge...kipes the yummy looking casarole...disappears into the night...car doesn't start...comes back for a cab...sits on porch while eating casarole with his fingers...waits for the cab...

@Lord - Being a mommy is a full time position. Glad to see someone actually realizes that. :) It seems that mommies are expected to be super heroes... However, tonight I am going to bed early! I need to catch up on sleep!... maybe ;) It's also my writing time!

barbergirl28 profile image

barbergirl28 5 years ago from Hemet, Ca Author

@Real - I know - right. I mean a third of our day is usually wasted by sleep. Think of all the stuff we are missing when we do it. We need more hours in the day! :)

barbergirl28 profile image

barbergirl28 5 years ago from Hemet, Ca Author

@Truckstop Sally - I don't know if I have ever drank Big Red... hmmmm... I might have to search for it. Unfortunately though, my hubbie didn't do the dishes nor will he put the kids to bed. He is working another night shift. The kids will be in bed shortly and I have to decide whether to follow suit or to use that time for my writing like I usually do!

@Cloverleaf - I usually try to not drop my husband off at work so I have to pick him up later. It just seems like a waste of gas and time. Yesterday was a different story. We had a friend watching our youngest as we took the two older kids to Knotts Berry Farm so we could ride some rides. Good day - just the outcome was a little painful because of a lack of time! :) But being busy is good! :)

@Thought Sandwhiches... I would have lent you a fork. I have some old silverware that I would have never missed. And thanks for eating the leftovers... I was getting a little sick of them. Darn me for being a Disney Betty Crocker and making too much food! :)

@drbj - Made it home safe and sound.... unfortunately there was no avoiding it. However, next time I will plan accordingly so I won't have to pick him up in the future... or we will buy a car so I don't have to worry at all ;)

Your poem is very creative barbergirl28 and I enjoyed it.

Please stay safe and take care for yourself and your family, especially when you are tired and driving. :)

A.CreativeThinker - I will stay safe. Unfortunately, I am used to staying up that late. Usually when my husband works nights I stay up and wait for him. It is my writing time. Got to take what you get when you have three kids underfoot.

Glad you enjoyed the poem. It was a fun one to write!

I understand how hectic life can get barbergirl28, especially with young children. Try to take some down time, when you can, to recharge your batteries. Everyone benefits in the long run. Take care. :))

Funny and beautiful, barbergirl...clever too!

I hope by the time I find a new work and have to be on shifts, I hope my mate would pick me up though it's late. I don't drive you see and he is not in for a Mountain Dew, but he surely knows what will keep him awake- a video game and a beer or two.

@cyoung35 - Sadly I think I got that from my mom. I remember when I was a kid she would wake up from the dead of sleep and ask for a Mountain Dew. She would chug it down and then fall asleep immediately after. I must be immune to it! LOL :)
