Poems About Love and Remembrance : Smile Because it Happened

Smile because it happened

T’was the night

You held me in your arms

And you said

You will never leave me

I was a fool

I believed you so

How could I not

With those piercing eyes

And looks that can kill

You surely melt my heart

Gone are the days

When I could sit on your lap

And smile and laugh

The memories are still here

The smell of your perfume

Keeps on haunting me

The smell of your coffee

Your clothes are on the floor

They are still there

I don’t want to touch it

I am scared of what will happen

If I could still have a life

I will still love you again

Your memories are everywhere

How many nights and days

And counting the years

I could live by it, yes

The memories are sweet

I am glad it happened

Can I cry because you’re gone

Or I will just smile

Thanks for the memories

Because it happened

This poem goes deep into a persons feelings, it makes you think about the people we have lost, but we know we can smile because of the good times we had. So yes, smile because we knew them. Good work.

Yes, it was sad, and it has remorse there too. But I hope you are over it and moving on. Wonder how recent it was. It is passionate and there are feelings there. You are not afraid to tell it. I admire you for writing it. Thank you for sharing this lovely poetry with us. You write so well. I will gladly read more! : )
