Smoky Room

Nature Inside

Every fall I collect something from the nature and bring it inside to enjoy it all winter long.

Walking Alone In The Dark

She is no longer in that smoky room filled with noise all around

She is now walking alone in the silence breathing fresh air

It was raining just before she put her shoes on but now it stopped

It was getting colder and darker but she didn't mind

Walking alone in the dark was something she was used to

Walking meant she could let thoughts run through her head

The wind is blowing in her direction and she feels that

The wind this evening is whispering around her and to her

The surroundings have lost their colors to the darkness

The surroundings are grey shades of the sky and the trees

The colors of summer is slowly disappearing before her eyes

The colors make her feel alive and well but now she feels empty

Is she going to feel like this the whole fall because of the lost colors?

Is she going to be able to enjoy her walks during the cold winter?

Right after having these thoughts the wind starts blowing very hard

Right after this, she can see horses running and she also smells them

She can now feel raindrops start falling on her skin in the face

She knows that nature has read her mind and given her an answer

There are so many things to enjoy in nature when seasons are changing

There is a comfort in knowing that the summer will be here again

Sometimes we need to spend time in a smoky room before we see the beauty of nature

Sometimes we need to spend time in nature before we enter that smoky room again

She is taking her shoes off

She is tired but happy

She is closing the window

She is going to bed

Beautiful....I gained a new appreciation for where I live (and I've lived here a long time) when I taught a year in Alaska...I was in the middle of the tundra with no trees and no water, and I missed the natural beauty of my home state. You captured that beautifully with this poem my dear.

Having moved through timezones and terrains- I can really relate to your poem... harsh or tender, landscapes can be beautiful as we leave the mists of smoky rooms... you've captured that sense of serene wonderment and an appreciation nature in all its forms so well here. Well done, Madeleine.

Bill, I didn't see the beauty where I live before I moved away from here, and I was away for eight years. That's probably why I appreciate everything around me now. I just wish it could be warmer and less snow in the winter, but very cold days are often very beautiful. Thank you Bill! :)

Docmo, nice to see you. Hope you are doing fine. :) I haven't been in that many places, but I really appreciate what we have here in Finland. Seeing the seasons changing is a nice experience. Thank you for your kind words, Docmo. I appreciate your visit very much.

Regardless of the season or time there is always an element of beauty in nature. You captured the sense of regret at the changing of the seasons, but presented readers with an experience of nature that is still to come. Liked and shared.

Lovely poem Made! I relate this poem on a different level in that when we have abundance of things we do not appreciate their true worth. We only realize the importance of things when we do not have them.

In a way, we ought to be thankful for what we have. life and living would be so much more meaningful and happy.

Voting it up, beautiful and sharing this.

so lovely are these words, well just like its author - and I know all about being a 'creature' of your environment and being 'one' with nature and harmony with yourself (sometimes on that one -lol) - I walk around the bay of my lake everyday and see and hear the beauty in it all -just as I did with your deep pure words here - hoping all is well with you and your family - sending warm wishes and good energy from lake erie time ontario canada 2:11pm

Hi epi, thank you for stopping by to read and leave a wonderful comment. I'm looking forward to spending some time outside today too, even if it seems like the heavy, dark grey clouds are going to fall down soon. Me and my family are doing just fine, thank you. Sending you warm wishes back! :)
