Midnight Traffic........

Pacing and staring solemnly out of the
window into the silence of the night
I wonder where she is ......and with who
.....not much has been going right

There's a light mist falling and a fog passes
through the streetlamps glow
The occasional passing of a car
I wait for the sound to slow

There's no mistaking the sound
of midnights passing cars
And so I'll doze on the sofa
and wish on a passing stars

As dawn creeps in on the fog ......I'll take
my bag and leave in tow
I'll leave the deafening silence behind....
for her ......the one she'll come to know

Who said that bad loves are carried along
from heart to another in silent heartbeats
And in the proving of another soul to
the cause .....there are no receipts

This gambler took his remaining chips
and cashed them in at the door
And never returns to the casino....
nor chances love..... no more

Such a powerful poem..I am so glad I am following you..you are a very gifted writer..This reminded me of how we can bring old bagage into a new relationship and there is no real proof of what we have been through..never the less we carry it over.

Gambling, hoping for the best on love. Takes the winnings and or losses and moves on. Very heartfelt.

Very sad that sometimes the ones we choose to share our love and time with does not share it back! I tend to believe they are the very ones with a life full of regrets though. The sad thing is although we give our all, there are still regrets. Each cicumstance calls for different measures, if you will. I guess it's like I tell some family members..." Choose to do what you can live with." Even that's not good advise. I do know the older we get the wiser and the more we look into our past doings to validate a life well lived! Love and hugs!!

Sweety Pie , You got it girl , so much of what I write about are simply momentary visions of a past. Small moments from time that produce a snapshot of memories . It is just simply what it is. But it's all good. Good points that you make there"chose to do what you can live with". Love ya bunches oxoxoxoxoxoxoDad.

The waiting and wondering and then the final decision of knowing when to quit. Your words said it all.

horseback, some walk and wonder all night and many nights. It is a difficult and heartbreaking moment when one picks up the back and walks away. And indeed some never gamble on love again. Some want to but it never happens for them.

You captured these moments of pain and loneliness well.

I love your poetry, there is so much yearning, unfulfilled. And I've listened for the car, at least once in my life, and not heard it. That sound, of the cars passing and not pulling in, is one of the saddest.

I felt the pain as I to looked over my shoulder with an emptiness that haunted me for years. I left and folded my cards, pushed away a life I started, with no expectations that it would end and leave me empty and hollow. Tears stained my soul 14 years ago and I have paid the price and felt the loss.

Yet life does not stop for any man/woman it simply takes us all on another chapter to our journey here. peace my friend, nice to be back to read, I have been absent. Bravo very well worded, I read between the lines.

Hi ahorseback, This is a lovely, haunting poem. You express yourself in a way which so many can relate to. :)

Paradise , thank you so much , "yearning "is a good way to describe who I once was. Too shy to go beyond that point! I often saw love as my yearning and everyone elses living. Lol. Be well.

I'm coming home! I'm coming home! Don't worry, dad, just go on and sleep. I will be at home asap and cook nice breakfast for you! Hehehe... Can't resist the temptation to turn the environtment around a little bit. Waiting for our naughty child will sound happier than waiting for the love one who never remember where he/she belong. I wish this kind of moment already left way far behind you, my poetic dad.
