Song Lyrics - Our Hearts Know Better

It’s an adult situation
It’s just sex and nothing else
We think we can handle it
But our hearts know better

We don’t talk for days
And pretend it’s ok
We act like we’re both single
But our hearts know better

She laughs about "friends with perks"
It sounds pretty funny
Until it starts to hurt

Our hearts know better
They don’t call it making love for nothing
We try to forget one another
But a heart stands for something

When she’s gone she may not be on my mind
But inside where it counts
There’s love for her to find
I’m not as free as I like to think I am
I look at other girls
But she’s my heart's one and only friend

Our hearts know better
The don’t call it making love for nothing
We try to forget one another
But a heart stands for something

Every morning I leave
She always sleeps in
I look at the bed
I know I’ll be back again

You can’t get this close
And not feel something strong
Why do we pretend not to care?
Our hearts know we’re both wrong

Our hearts know better
They don’t call it making love for nothing
We try to forget one another
But a heart stands for something

The very best love is the love of THE ONE - no one else matters. Love, the sexual love that you are talking about should be totally unique to just ONE person. My opinion - but great lyrics any way!!! Awesome in fact!

Well, if your heart "knows better", go for it and find out whether the heart was right or not. While you are paralyzed asking yourself a question and not answering it, then your heart...

Decisions:

1) get closer and figure out if you are for each other; what is stopping you?

2) leave everything as is;

3) separate and look for the ONE;

4) write poetry;

5) suffer. From what?

I don't believe in "making" love.

Love is not soup or money to be made. Or even children.

Maybe that is why the result is so elusive, we expect "Love" to be a result of some production. Love is in your heart. Go and find it.

And write a poem.

We drown in words. We get confused by "making" sense. We don't .

@Acaetnna - Hi! Still lovely in love as ever. I'm glad you liked this... it's a song about a different time in a person's life where maybe love has come and gone and there are complications but the attempt to ignore the feelings is a losing battle. Thank you.

@gmwilliams - Thanks. Yes it goes straight to the point; why are we doing this? Is it just sex or maybe there is more...

@kallini2010 - Thank you for the very sincere and helpful answer. I feel I reached you on some level and that is very gratifying to me. You are trying to help. It means you are reaching out to a stranger. That's an interesting point that love is not made but instead is always there in your heart... so it is a search and not something you build. Maybe you should write a poem about that....
